Mike: Sorry, but my budget barely stretches to a basic radio, so high end hifi is more of a distant dream than reality! I'm on serveral forums, but none for hi end hifi.

Mike: OK - I checked the postcode against digital UK - Coverage Checker - Detailed View - your 36km away, with indications of excellent signal on all mux's - so checking that signal stength check sounds like a good idea.
If you search for 'too much of a good thing' on the website, you can what the problem might be - if the signal is too high, in effect the tuner goes deaf, hence the breakup, etc. Worth looking at the other muxes as well, it could be that the others are close to the limit, but HD channels tend to get hit first.

MikeB: there isn't too much signal in formby, I was working around the corner the other day and com 7 was about 20dbuv down on the other multiplexes what I was getting was channel 31-45dbuv, channel 49-65 dbuv, channel 50-67 dbuv, channel 55-63 dbuv, channel 56-55 dbuv, channel 58-64 dbuv and last 50-66 dbuv. This was with a wideband aerial so with a grouped aerial it would be worse a faulty coax and you would be lucky to get com 7.

Mazbar: Thanks for that. It shows that there is no 'one solution' - you just have to narrow it down to what it might be!

Thanks to you MikeB / Mazbar for taking the time. I've just found out the 'booster facility has been activated on my LG tv ! Maybe this explains some signal overload? However I'll check my coaxial cable and see if any water has crept in.

I stay in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, my neighbour receives several more freeview channels than me. With doing some research, I found that all the missing channels are on the multiplex com 7. My aerial is pointing in the opposite direction (180 degrees). Does my aerial need changing direction to pick up the missing channels.
I am not sure of what transmitter I'm pick my signal up from.

Nigel Ian Archer: Do you receive any HD channels on numbers 101-105? The Digital UK Trade link under your post shows that there are several possible transmitters which should be receivable at your postcode. It also shows the compass bearing of each transmitter from you, so you should be able to work out from that which transmitters you and your neighbour are each using.

Is BBC News HD still broadcasting? Its dropped off my freeview box in Sidcup, using a communal aerial for my flat. Also lost London Live (ex channel 9 I think). Went to parents, also in Sidcup, they have a house with a large external aerial, and they don't have also have nether channel anymore, they also lost 96, Forces TV (I never was able to pick that up in my flat anyway)

Trevor: BBC News HD is on the COM7 multiplex which changed frequency at Crystal Palace on 21st March and is now found on UHF channel 55. If you cannot restore your missing channels by retuning you need to get in touch with whoever is responsible for maintenance as the communal aerial system may need adjusting, or the aerial itself may need replacing if it isn't a wideband type.

There must be engineering work being done on COM7 UHF channel 55 at Crystal Palace right now, because for the past two days I can't receive it in Epsom. COM8 UHF channel 56 is OK.
