The channel frequently has themed nights or seasons in which a number of films centred around one genre, director or actor are shown. Sandra Jackson: If you receive from Holy Cross, then you will not get any of the Commercial channels because it does not transmit them. So if you have ITV3 and Pick TV, then you must be receiving from Midhurst.

The multiplex (ArqB) which carries Film 4, Yesterday, 4Music, ITV4 and others is on low power from Midhurst until 25th April. If you receive it now (albeit intermittently), then you shouldn't need to tune it in on that date as it is only an increase in transmission power.

If you have manual tuning available on your receiver(s), then there is likely no need to do a full automatic tuning scan, but instead manually tune to UHF channel 50. You could try this now as that is what it is on now, albeit at lower power.

Hi, I have Sony Bravia tv in RG1 postcode. We have lost Film 4 and Russia today. Some days we have loads of channels, other days very few. Have tried manual re-tune, but now Film 4 does not appear in the channel group listings [42, 45 etc] although it is stated we should receive a good signal. Any ideas? thanks.

Guy: Based on those channel numbers, you are receiving from Hannington. You should be aware that SDN which carries ITV3, ITV2+1 etc on C41 and ArqB which carries Yesterday, Film 4 etc on C47 are on low power until 18th April. This is so as to guard against interference with those receiving from the Guildford transmitter which uses those channels until it completes switchover.

Hi,
I have a Topfield Freeview recorder that up until a few days ago received Film 4 fine. Now it seems to pick up the station but doesn't display a picture. This is not the only channel that i seem to have lost.

I live in hastings with a TN37 postcode. Checking I can see that there is a switchover planned but reading it it still seems to think that I should be picking up the channels. I have re-tuned the box today just to see what happens and still no luck.

Julie Stacey: Can you be more specific?

I gather you received Freeview before switchover which means that you should be able to get the full service afterwards.

Rowridge transmitter which is on the Isle of Wight is currently on low power for Film 4 and other Commercial services. The power will increase on 18th April when a retune will be necessary. This leads me to suspect that your receiver is tuned to Rowridge now.

What direction is your aerial pointing in? Is it towards the Isle of Wight or is it eastwards towards Brighton?

I live in East Sussex (TN39)and with my Humax PVR have for the last 3 years been recieving digital tv with no problems other the the odd freeze framing. For the last few months most of the time I am unable to receive any commercial channels (BBC ect.OK).
I am informed my signal is coming from Hastings. Why this problem now?

Eddie: If you be more specific about your location, preferably full post code.

It would also be useful to know exactly which groups (multiplexes or "muxes") of programme channels that you are missing.

See "Before switchover configuration" and identify which you have and which you are missing, including which you had in the past and perhaps those which you have never had:

Eddie: It's likely the problem is due to the power increases at sites that have already switched over.

Hastings Mux 2, A and B use the same frequencies as Rowridge, which is now transmitting at effectively double the old power, and on vertical polarization as well as horizontal - before it only used horizontal polarization.

Hastings Mux D is on the same channel as Whitehawk Hill BBC A, again effectively double the old power.

It's likely that there's nothing you can do until Hastings switches over in June.

Samantha: Hi - i use Waltham transmitter which is within eyesight. Panasonic TV and technica HD freeview box both pick up Film 4 quality/strength 9/9.
However my Luxor digital recorder using exactly the same aerial input doesn't. Tried manual search to no avail.

Any ideas please?
