cant find a straightforward sensible way to access regular tv since strong winds put out most of aerial reception

Tim Noakes:

As you haven't given a full postcode or haven't said which transmitter you receive, we can't provide any constructive advice other than to say look at your own aerial and see if it appears intact and is still pointing the correct way (compare to neighbours). Also check your downlead looks undamaged and isn't flapping in the wind.
Most transmitters are operating normally, (Bilsdale being the exception), a few are undergoing Planned Engineering which doesn't usually affect reception for lengthy periods.

tony:

Great Movies Christmas(/Classic) is carried on Local multiplexes.
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.

Only a limited number of Main Transmitters have a Local multiplex which is usually beamed towards the large urban areas they are intended to serve. Chatton is not one of those transmitters! This is a commercial decision by the Commercial Operators as well as limitations of available frequencies in a number of cases.
Unfortunately you aren't predicted to receive signals from any other main transmitter either.

Lesley: You're predicted to be able to receive the local multiplex (which carries Great Movies Christmas) on UHF channel 35 from both Crystal Palace and Reigate transmitters. Do you get London Live on Freeview channel 8? If so, retune and the Great Movies channels should appear. If you don't have London Live, try carrying out a manual tune on UHF channel 35 (the option can be found somewhere in the menu/settings on most TVs - post the make and model if you can't find it).

Hello. I have a Manhattan TR-3 recorder. Everything works well most of the time except where a movie is on freeview Channel 34 and is in 2 parts. The red record button makes it look as if BOTH parts will be recorded but because the movie is split by a news report, only the first half of the movie is recorded. I have spoken to technical support at Manhattan and they mentioned something called channel tags and said that this is a broadcasting issue. Is there anything that can be done to rectify - it's just so frustrating only having half of a movie when the screen looks as though everything has been set up to record the whole thing. Thank you for your help.

Hi, this isn't the broadcaster's website, it's an dependant technical help-site.
You'll be best contacting the owners of the channel (used to be Sony) but now in the UK it's Narrative Entertainment UK Limited

Even an "independent" technical help-site. Sorry for the typo!
