P. Castle: Upper Heyford is located outside the coverage area of Oxfords LOX multiplex transmitter, Middleton Stoney being on the extreme verges of, and although LCN8 may well be listed on the programme guide, the actual level the signal being received at is most likely to be well under that necessary to resolve a picture.

If your TV offers a manual tuning? go into the facility and enter C51 (714.0Mhz) but do "NOT" scan it, as on most devices the strength / quality level of any signal being received will be shown on the indicator bars nomatter how low it might be, this procedure allowing the tuner to act like a signal meter free of "lower threshold" limits, the latter being why no picture is seen even although it appears in the guide.

P. Castle: By the way, just in case you were wondering, the signal from Oxfords LOX transmitter is beamed from the mast in a West/South Westerly direction towards Oxford, Middleton Stoney being on the edge of the circular coverage area that surrounds the mast, reception in said area not necessarily guaranteed as being 100% reliable at all times.

P Castle, jb38: That's Oxford is on C29 and not C51, which I believe was its original allocation. In Upper Heyford COM4 (SDN) from Sandy Heath may be available on C51.

Dave Lindsay : Yes, quite correct, I forgot all about L-OFD's change to C29 (538.0Mhz). Although P.Castle must have "originally" received a signal of sorts from Oxford, otherwise LCN8 would not have been seen.

I would like to watch a repeat of 24th July 2015 broadcast with John Vickers and Alison Knight talking about their writing. I have channel 8 but I wasn't in that night and I can't record channel 8. I have been waiting for it to go on you tube but to date it hasn't. Could you please let me know if I can watch this programme.

Hi, I am a trustee of a local Charity providing support to people with Dementia in and around Oxford. There would appear to be some type of blockage around Dementia Sufferers and their Carers knowing of our Services. We run three Day Clubs which are reasonably attended and appreciated by those who do attend however, we know there are other people within the community who could benefit from seeing what we have to offer, together with their Carers.
I write to ask if you would be interested in featuring the activities of one of our Carers groups in addition to looking at the facilities we can offer in any of our three Clubs.
further detail can be found on our Web site Daybreak-Oxford
Thanking you for reading this information.

Brian Dickety:

I suggest that your write to the people responsible for running the Thats's Oxford service. They can be contacted by looking at their website found using That's TV

This website is not connected with any broadcaster and is offered primarily to assist viewers with reception problems and is entirely independent.

Witney

Lidia: Witney is seen on the coverage chart as being on the dividing line between good and poor as far as reception of the L-OXD transmitter is concerned, the Northern area of Witney being in the category of poor.

As your exact location is unknown, a reception prediction test was carried out using a p/code of OX28 5BB (Witney Post Office), this indicating that that the transmitter is receivable in that postal code area, but though only in a variable fashion, and so, whether you are able to receive it or not all depends on your particular location relative to that of the area covered by the test code.

If your TV or box has a "manual tuning" facility? you can use this to test for any evidence of a signal being received no matter how low it might be, the procedure being to enter C29 into the manual tuning box but "not" followed by pressing search or scan, because if any traces of a signal are evident, it will show up on the signal strength / quality bars.

However, in the interests of accuracy, it would be of assistance if your exact location was known, preferably in the form of a post code or one from somewhere nearby, e.g: a shop / post office.
