Barbara Welsh: This channel was removed from the general Freeview platform at the latter end of March with the exception of from Winter Hills low powered GIM multiplex on Mux C57. The problem being that the signal from this multiplex is beamed towards the Bolton / Manchester area, likewise can only be received by viewers residing in said areas, Nantwich being well outside of same.

I have bought a new Samsung UE32J1500 and it will not receive channel 82. Other tv in the house receives it perfectly as we live near winter hill I assume it is not a transmission problem. I watch the channel a lot so am very disappointed. Spoken to samsumg chat line they cannot help . Anyone any ideas. I like the tv and it is a reasonably priced hd tv so do not really wish to return. However not much use if doesn't receive favourite channel. Help!

Barbara Oxley: Hi, Barbara. I notice that True Movies 1 is transmitted on a group of channels called the GIM multiplex from Winter Hill and that these channels are transmitted at a lower power of 1000 watts, whereas the main groups of channels from Winter Hill are transmitted at 100,000 watts. When you say you live near Winter Hill, how near ? Can you see the mast from your bedroom window? I'm wondering whether the receiver circuitry in the other tvs in your house is more sensitive than that in your new Samsung? The other question is whether you are feeding it a strong enough signal? Is it fed from a distribution amplifier with multiple outlets in your loft? And are the other tvs fed from that box too? Answers to these questions will help us to help you further. Your full postcode will help us too. Thanks, Richard, Norwich.

peter clark: They are advertising true Christmas channel 24 but I have retuned several times and cannot get it. Why advertise it when you can't receive it?

Anne Walker: True Christmas is on Freeview channel 74 (not 24) in areas where there is a local TV station broadcast. This is due to the broadcaster taking spare capacity on the multiplex which carries local TV channels and helps to fund the broadcast costs for local TV operators.

david: As above, you will only receive True Christmas on Freeview if you can receive a local TV station on either channel 7 or 8. It's also available on Sky and Freesat.
