To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Alan Mcmaw:

There could have been some sort of temporary fault, I can't find anything that's showing specific problems. Together TV is carried on the COM7 HD multiplex on UHF C55, are you missing any other channels from that multiplex?
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are on which multiplex.

If the problem continues you might be best contacting Together TV .
Please note though that the temporary COM7 multiplex is due to close at the end of June when the licence expires and OFCOM have said it won't be extended. Together TV now have a streaming service as detailed on their social media accounts eg. JavaScript is not available.

I have a you view by box and I have problems recently with the HD channels cutting out. The issue is this happens randomly on all channels, yet you can revisit on another part of the day and they are fine. This is frustrating as you can't record from the hd channel as you can't trust the signal will give you a clean record. It seems like the transmitter is varying power at different times of day. Any ideas? Thanks Mark.

Mark Carter: Transmitters don't vary their power output unless there is either a fault or temporarily whilst engineering work is taking place. If the problem is happening at the same times each day then a likely cause is electrical interference from something nearby, probably either something containing an electric motor or poorly screened LED lighting is also a common cause. It's also worth checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV and YouView box, which could be making the problem worse.

And if you provided a full postcode and which transmitter you receive (if you know) we could tell you if it's currently listed with any faults or has Planned Engineering.

Had atmospheric problems this morning, all channels pixelating. Now have lost half of Freeview channels.
We are usually set on Dover Mux but are not getting all from there. I think we may have stRAYEd to Margate. Can you help

Keith Grindley:

Yes there is "tropospheric ducting" around affecting reception in various parts of the country but especially the south coast at present.
You won't have "strayed" to Margate as it operates as a SFN with Dover (along with Ashford) on all channels (that's a Single frequency Network - for each multiplex) since October 2019.

You should still be correctly tuned unless you've tried retuning which is something you should never do when you have weak or pixellating signals due to weather, engineering or faults as invariably it just clears your correct tuning and you have to retune again when signals are normal.

The UHF channels you should be tuned to are C33, C35, C36, C39, C42, & C48
That's in the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6

Wendy Barnett :

You shouldn't need a "special" aerial, but what sort of aerial is it, is it external or is it a set-top?
Apart from trying to describe it, see if you can find an internet picture of a very similar aerial and post the link.

The aerial should be pointing virtually due South for Caradon Hill with its rods (or squashed Xs) horizontal, and you should get excellent reception of the 3 main PSB multiplexes (those carrying BBC and ITV/Ch4/Ch5 and some of their sister channels), reception of the commercial multiplexes may be variable, there is no "Local" multiplex.

See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplexes.

Is there any close-by obstructions on the line of sight - eg. another caravan directly in the way or is the aerial height above them?
If there are obstructions then you could try to get signals from Huntshaw Cross which is bearing 57degrees, that's 12 degrees E of NE at your location. PSB reception should be good, but the COM multiplexes are likely to be more variable.

If there are local obstructions you need to get the aerial height above them.

in the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6

Caradon Hill's UHF channels are C28, C25, C22, C21, C24, & C27
Huntshaw Cross UHF channels are C30, C31, C37, C32, C34, & C35

Check in your TV tuning section you are tuned correctly. If not clear current tuning by doing an automatic tune with the aerial unplugged, then plug it in and do a manual tune for each channel.

Having lost BBC News HD and Quest HD, are we ever likely to receive these and other HD channels again. After investing in costly high-end OLED TVs, it's disappointing to be watching a fuzzy picture. Perhaps best buy cheap TVs if all you watch is Freeview? What a pity though that when so much is filmed in excellent HD that you can't watch it that way. Or am I missing something here, even if prepared to pay for selected HD viewing if that is possible?

Keith Bacon:

Do you have a decent internet connection? You can get BBC News HD on iPlayer.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/rec…com7

You can obviously get a lot of other HD and some UHD stuff on iPlayer. ITV Hub is being "upgraded" at the end of September but I don't know what range of stuff is available in HD, and there is other Apps and on-line players. Not the same or as "usable" as changing channels on Freeview I know.

Your set may have a built-in Satellite tuner, in which case you could consider using Freesat - so you'd only need a Dish and LNB. There's a good choice of HD channels there apparently.
