This transmitter has no current reported problems
The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Balgownie (Aberdeen City, Scotland) transmitter.UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Chris Stewart: Hi, Chris. As you move North and West of Aberdeen you come into the range of Meldrum and going South you get into the range of Durris - see Briantist's coverage maps of these DAB transmitters on this UKFREE.TV website. This would suggest that the issue is local to the Dyce/Bridge of Don district and indeed the Balgownie transmitter locality as the result of a fault that has developed on the Balgowrie transmitter. It's a pity that Des (above post at 1:58 p.m. after having reported a transmitter fault), wasn't taken seriously. Maybe it's going to be a case of 'numbers that count',i.e. the more listeners that complain, the greater the probability of something being done? Richard, Norwich.

Des: Hi, Des. I note that you are probably only around 11 miles from the Meldrum DAB transmitter on Smithy Croft to your North/North-West, so this would now strongly suggest that the problems people are having in Aberdeen city centre are a result of a fault on Meldrum, rather than on Balgownie (Bridge of Don0, after all! I am saddened by the response you had from the BBC. I am currently urging listeners to 'vote with their 'hands' by picking up their phones and ringing the BBC helpline. Richard, Norwich.

mel: Hi Mel. It looks as if someone. somewhere finall recognised and accepted that there was a fault and has finally rectified it!!! Perhaps the posts on Briantist's site here have some effect when quoted to "the powers that be"! Richard, Norwich.

Is there a problem with Boom radio on the Balgownie transmitter. Iy has always been iffy in my house in Dyce but these past few days the reception has been dire. I often now get service unavailable and also get problems in the car now. Other stations are solid.

Boom Radio is carried on the SDL National multiplex Block 11A: 216.928 MHz, so if you are having problems with it's reception, you should have similar problems with other stations on the multiplex - eg. Absolute 80s & also 90s, Jazz FM, Magic Classical, Talk, Times Radio etc. just to name some of them.
A number of other commercial stations are carried on the D1 National multiplex Block 12A: 223.936MHz in Scotland..
BBC main stations are on the BBC National multiplex Block 12B: 225.648 MHz
Unfortunately only the BBC National multiplex is transmitted from Balgownie.
The SDL multiplex is not transmitted from as many transmitters in the UK as the the D1 multiplex and even fewer in Scotland.
That said, there is a main transmitter not too far away at Redmoss, south of Aberdeen which is probably where you are getting your D1 and SDL signals from. However you aren't predicted in your general area to get the SDL multiplex as well as the D1 multiplex.
So try and ensure that your receiver has as clear as possible line-of-sight to the south.

Allan Robertson:
Just to add, if you look on the Redmoss (Aberdeen City, Scotland) DAB transmitter | free and easy for 21 years transmitter page (with Pro Mode enabled), looking at the map of coverage for the BBC multiplex 12B, you'll note there is none predicted in the general Dyce area, so this would explain the poor coverage of the D1 & SDL multiplexes.
Also note the transmitter is more to the SE than South.

Meant to come back earlier, and got side-tracked, just to say Redmoss had also been off-air a few times during the last 3 days due to faults and essential engineering,
