Elaine Sealey: Teletext/Ceefax closed in the UK when digital switchover was completed in 2012. Do you mean the red button text service? All it provides is pages copied from the BBC's website, there is no content on red button text that isn't available on the BBC website or apps.

Elaine Sealey:

Unfortunately, because the BBC had proposed to withdraw the "Red Button" Text service and then not done so because of many complaints, some manufacturers removed the access feature from their sets.

On my older LG there's a separate Text button from the Red Button. I don't know if there's any "workaround" for sets that don't have direct access. If I come across anything I'll post the information.

If he asked about Text when he was buying the set, and the store have given misleading information about the Samsung, I be asking for my money back and pick a set that has the fearture.
