What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Peter:
To start with the dish size you have will be pertaing on the limits of the footprint, so it is is even slightly misaligned you will notice drops in reception, especially on the UK FTA channels, which are weaker during the night.
It is just on that ONE frequency (what about ITV3 for example?)
And this summers hot heat may have caused LNB issues?
And recently, some people have been experiencing issues on some frequencies on Astra 2d (especially those C4s), due to the new Badr satellite at 26 east using the same frequencies and knocking out some Astra 2d frequencies.
Perhaps check with neighbours who have the same sized dish as you to see if they are experiencing problems.
PS we are not all cowboys!

Ian Malaga:
Nothing to do with Sky messing around, as the channels you mention are nothing to do with Sky at all.
I know that some people have been having problems with the C4s which may be due to a new satellite at 26east that is using some of the same frequencies as Astra 2d, perhaps this is the cause?

Chris:
If you mean Astra 1 then a FTA receiver will get all the FTA channel on there - which are mainly european channels.
If you mean Astra 2, then it will get the UK FTA channels, depending on your exact location and dish size.
BBC1,2,3,4 ITV1,2,3,4,C4,e4,m4,five are all available free to air - with no sky card required, but reception may well depend on your dish size.
Even on a small 80cm dish, you shouyld be able to get SOME UK FTA channels, like SKy News, may be True Movies, BBC Sports streams for example

Emma: if you are getting "No signal" messages, then doing the manual update by holding the button in will not do much, as it relies on a signal to try and update the system.
So perhaps a tuner has gone in your box? (borrow one from a friend to see if that works?) Maybe the dish has moved? Maybe the signal is being obstructed (snow?)? maybe the LNB (on the dish) is damaged? Maybe the cable from the LNB to the receiver is damaged?
If you cannot check these yourslef then call an engineer....

Hi... My sister lives in the Abruzzo region of Italy on the east coast & has Sky+ HD. She was able to get UK digital satellite channels except for any ITV/BBC ones & now cannot receive anything except 'no satellite signal'. She has tried all 3 steps mentioned above & from reading the previous posts, I suspect it could be an LNB issue. Can you suggest anything & also how she may get ITV/BBC channels although this could be a 'dish size' issue. Thanks

Paul:
No signa could be down to dish moved, LNB issues, cable issue, or bad receiver. YOu could always try a freinds receiver on the sytsem to make sure it is not yours that is causing a problems.
If she has a sky card, then she should be able to get ITV1 - if not add it to the "other channels" using frequency 11973!
Otherwise, for the BBC and ITV then "bigger dish" is required.

Hi,
I'm in SW France and have basic channels and sky dish. No probs since July but now have lost all BBC. Have tried option 2, have sky hd box without card instsalled by local sky in france comapny. Any ideas? Keep receiving the 'no satellite signal is being received' message but only on BBC channels. Will purchasing a sky freeview card sort this out or do i need to get the enginner back out?
Any advice appreciated.

natalie:
Loss of channels can be down to a number of things: dish has moved, LNB issues, cable / connection issues or box failure (Thomson HD boxes like blowing their capacitors!).
If you cannot findthe fault yourself, then get the installation company back out.
As you have not needed a sky card for the BBC channels atleast the last 7 years, buying a freesatfromsky (no such things as a sky freeview card, as sky and freeview are two differnet sysems) card will not change anything.
