Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

So sky pulls Channel one and replaces it with a junk quiz channel.
They should have been forced to either replace that channel with equivalent content or loose it all together.
And Briantist, If you replace quality content with junk it's not just a change, it's a massive reduction.

My response to Channel 1 closing, buy a massive 2TB network drive and download everything from torrent sites.
Sky will keep buying and destroying as they please, never been a Sky customer, never want to be.

Lee B: Yes indeed, just arm yourself with http://www.utorrent.com/ and Star tREK isoHunt the BitTorrent & P2P search engine .
Star Trek - all of it - takes up just 212GB.

Rick: Challenge IS NOT a "quiz channel" is a channel that shows classic game shows, quite different from a "quiz channel".
There is no "they" to force anyone, Freeview is a free market.

Hi Briantist
I know what challenge is, and whether you wish to call them quiz shows or classic game shows it's still cheap junk.
And fancy suggesting visiting isohunt - try streaming it's much easier

It is a disgrace the Rudloph Murdoch CSM just buy the channel & shut it down on a whim.
It was the only chance to catch new shows like V & Warehouse 13 without having to pay extortionate monthly subscriptions. Replacing it with repeats of Catchphrase, Goldenballs & supermarket sweep is just a total insult & mickey take. I bet Rudolphs having a little chuckle to himself today, after ruining a few of the poorer peoples viewing. Many who are not on £50,000 salaries cannot afford sky or cable tv.
All for spite & a few extra new subscriptions to his channels. The man certainly has far too much power & influence on our country!
