Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

There was no warning from Virgin or channel 1 it just stoped broadcasting. I had to look on the internet to find out why.
Rupert Murdoc is going to control every thing at this rate. This is wrong. there is very little on free to view worth watching now. :)

Sorry but just being announced on the Channel One site or wherever means f*ck all to 90% of people, because this is 1 of those things where if you didn't find out by accident you'd never know til it's already done. Sky were simply sending a clear message that Freeview is a competitor they want to destroy, and not giving any notification shows they were treating Channel One as an enemy and giving it and it's viewers no respect, and no-one can ever defend that.

Sky bought Virgin, then got rid of its best channel?????????
huh!?!
I guess as already mentioned it's called getting rid of the competition.
I enjoyed watching a bit of Sci Fi and Fresh Prince; if only to get away from those 'reality' TV shows.
Let's hope this new Sky 3 will host some of the programmes on it :)

Doesn't sound good if Sky don't even want to associate the Sky name with Sky 3 by changing it's name and moving it further down the Sky guide. Apart from Cold Case and Brainiac and those free weekend passes that channel is as bad as Challenge. I remember when Sky 3 had the first season of Battlestar Galactica thinking it might be a lot like Sky 1 except a few years late, but that channel quickly turned to crap.
