Are there to be any more Freeview channels?
Disney are thinking of launching a general entertainment channel, and there is also a minority sports channel on the card too. Also Sky are considering turning Sky Travel into a "sky|six" too.
However, the space for new channels is limited so there will never be as many channels on Freeview as on Free Satellite.

stephen rawstron: The public service transmitter already carry all the multiplexes they will ever transmit. The commercial operators do not regard them as economical and rejected the offer of frequencies to broadcast on some years ago.

ste rawstron: No, you can also get four HD channels if you have a Freeview HD box or TV.

jo: Film4 runs on Multiplex D/ArqB, channel 15 in the EPG. It is only available if you're using a main site - 'Freeview Lite' transmitters don't carry this multiplex.

Hi,
Is there likely to be a new BBC Red Button Channel. Only one channel is very limiting. For example, when snooker is on only one table is viewable or today, (23 Apr), QPR vs Cardiff on BBC 1 and on freeview.....QPR vs Cardiff with different commentary. What happened to snooker...

ViPasoft: No, the service has been taken to a single stream because of the provision of BBC HD and BBC One HD.

In Brecon, Powys, S. Wales we only get the very basic Freeview channels (Wenvoe transmitter) and was shocked to discover just how many more channels they receive in England. My question is, are there plans to improve the transmitter in the near future, so that we recieve as many channels as England do? Its seems so unfair that we are not recieving the same.

Kerri: Basic answer is no. Brecon is served by a small local transmitter, and there are many of these located around Mid and South Wales, this is because of it's mountainous geography. All are ultimately supplied with a signal from Cardiff. Unfortunately when the digital change happened the commercial broadcasters did not subscribe to the additional equipment necessary to receive their channels, we were left therefore with a basic 'Freeview Lite' service. Unfortunately there looks like no going back on the situation because of costs. For full services in Brecon the only other option is Freesat but this will require a decoder and dish. Hope this is of help.
