Boxes that do not support both 2k and 8k modes
Some boxes are having problems during switchover supporting both modes at the same times:- Sharp TU-R160H
- Humax 9200T
- Thomson DTi 1000
The workaround appears to be to add the "8k" channel manually (C62 for Selkirk, for example) and then to do this procedure after switchover is complete: My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002
This is on top of the boxes that could not cope with the changes to the Network Information Table (NIT): Daewoo DS608P, Labgear DTT100, Triax DVB 2000T, Portland DP100 and these VCR/STBs: Daewoo SV900, Bush IDVCR01

Mike/Alan - You do not need a license unless you actually USE your TV to receive live broadcast channels.
But you do need it even if you can't receive ANY BBC channels!

When running a set-top box with an analogue TV, we had audible signals from lots of radio stations including BBC Radio1,2,3,4 and other commercial stations in the 700 range. We now have a LG set with an integral FreeviewHD tuner and although a scan shows that they still exit..when we select Radio 4 (for example) we get a notice saying this isonly available on FM or digital radio. What's going on? We are in the Craigkelly reception area

Val Valiant: Are you trying to receive BBC radio while BBC Alba is being broadcast? Most radio stations are removed to make way for Alba during its hours of transmission.

By Scott I think you have it!
It does seem odd to remove facilities for all 6 million Scots in order to provide facilities available only to the 1% (60,000) of them who CAN understand Gaelic. I wonder what proportion of them - ALL also English speakers - would prefer to have the removed radio programmes?
In Wales 20% of the population speak Welsh. It seems reasonable to provide TV to that number. It is done at the price of C4 - replaced by "Sianel pimp ec" (S4C) .

I am surprised Mr Salmond an his colleagues did not demand removal of the Parliament Channel instead to prevent people viewing an imperialist 'English' institution!

I retuned my free view box only to lose a lot of channels. I lost Film4, Dave, Sky Three, Yesterday, Viva, ITV4, Dave ja vu, E4+ 1, and all news channels except BBC.
I have a Phillips DTR1500 which I have done a default reset on but still no joy.

Chris: I overcame a different problem by clearing everying (rescan with the aerial unplugged) then carrying out a manual tune for each of the channels as listed in this site for your transmitter.
