To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

S Wixon: Not all Freeview sets have the "seven day" programme guide, especially older sets.

jackieme: Well, final switchover took place and im still missing all of row A, the sky sports channels and all of rows C and D. I have tried deleting and completely re-tuning with no success. I live in a housing association block with a shared arial. Am I entitled to ask my landlord to adjust/change the arial? Is there any point?(i.e. can I actually ever recieve these channels?). My postcode is eh8 8dd. Ideas??

Hi, Before the final switchover, I received all the channels in section E, however now, I'm missing all of them, and when they occasionally appear, they had 40% signal, which isnt enough to get a broadcast. I receive the Sudbury transmitter and my postcode is CM77 6TU if it helps. I haver no idea whats happened, I have retuned my freeview many times but nothing, any help??

jackieme: I would first check yourself for Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice , but if that doesn't fix the problem then you may have to contact the management company.

Jake: I'm not sure what you mean by "section E". However, as it notes on the Sudbury page:

SDN will temporarily operate on channel 49 (at 14kW ERP) from the first stage of Sudbury's switchover until mid-2012. Arqiva A will remain on its preswitchover channel (54) from switchover until mid-2012. Arqiva B will remain on its pre-switchover channel (50+) until late 2011, and then temporarily move to channel 63 (at 2.2kW ERP), before adopting its final allocation of channel 56 during mid-2012

Over the last month or so my EPG has disappeared from my main TV thaty has integral freeview. No problem with the separate freeview boxes on other tv's. I've scoured the tv menu and cleared /"rebooted" the channels but still no programme guide.
Any ideas?
I'm in whitstable and freeview is hit and miss I know but I used to have epg with no problems.

Al: If you can first a "first time installation" or "shipping condition" or "factory reset" in the menus of the TV, I would give that a go.

Malvern

I have for several weeks now problems with TV Channel 4 on Freeview breaking up during transmission. I am on the Malvern transmitter with vertical polarised aerial (wideband). Some other channels, like Channel 5 and other ITV channels are doing it too, but less severe. No problems with BBC channels. Is this due to work on the Malvern transmitter, change-over to digital, or due to some trees in the way of the signal??? Date : 30/07/2011 Postcode WR14 1RA.

John Persijn: According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are predicted to have excellent reception from Malvern on Mux2 which carries C4 as well as ITV1 and C5. You are also shown as having good reception for these channels from Lark Stoke, but that is with the aerial pointing at Lark Stoke! Check that the channels you have stored are on the Malvern frequency, ie C39 or 618.0MHz. If you have stored Lark Stoke channels by mistake these will be received on C23. Otherwise make sure there is no nearby VCR or Sky box with the RF modulator set around C38 which could interfere with the Malvern signal. If you have trees in the signal path they can play havoc with reception on random frequencies. One last point, if you have any booster in use you could have too much signal, which gives similar results to having a weak signal or intermittent interference on affected frequencies.
