Is there some way to pick up both freeview french and british channels using just one dish? It seems that french channels are viewable on 19.2°E and british on 28.2°E? French channels are also available on AB3 at 5°W. Is it conceivable to have one dish and 2 LNBs? If so, which configuration?

Alain: Yes, you can get some dishes with two LNBs. Or you can get a replacement mount to allow two LNBs. See BrySat Info - 2 satellites, one dish for an example.

Hello ... I appreciate your helpful site and hope you can help out.

I now use the free channels on my satellite digibox, but lately the signal quality is so poor that I can only get a small selection of channels.
I tried fix no.1 with no success.
No 2 I couldn't do because the system setup facilities were different [the ones specifies weren't available.
No 3 I did, but the box didn't restart itself after the upgrade message disappeared. When I turned it on there was no signal, with or without the card installed.
When I go to signal strength etc I see it is non-existent, and can't get any channels at all. So, after trying to get more channels, I now have none!! :(

All I get is the instruction to turn off the box, wait 5 mins, and restart [which makes no difference].

I haven't moved the box whilst doing this, but checked the cable is secure at the back.

Goodness knows what's going on here - perhaps it'll seem simple to you..

With thanks
John Fuller

I just read somewhere else that if you do a system update when you have a poor signal you can do permanent damage. I think this might have happened....

john Fuller: You can't damage the box with an upgrade if there is no signal or a poor signal. The box does a CRC check on the data and will not attempt to use if it is corrupt.

You may have a "no signal" message because you don't actually have a signal.

Another reason could be the receiver circuits in the box have blown.

Thanks for putting my mind to rest about my having broken it. I was looking on ebay already!
There was a slight signal when I started - could get a few major channels, and broken versions of some others [big tree next door, wet leaves].
But there's not a squeak now.
Do you think I could have blown the receiver circuits with the test? I may have unplugged it without first switching it off....[??]

I have been using a digital set top box to convert my analogue TV with no problems. I recently bought a 32" digital TV. The picture quality is now rubbish. Faces seem to blur and outside broadcasts like football and racing all appear to have ghosting. has anyone any ideas or reasons why ?

Hi
I am about to put up a satelite dish for my freeview box, however because of the design of the house i cannot run a cable internally down the walls.
the house already has a standard aerial cable installed to a wall socket in the lounge.
can i splice the satelite cable into the aerial cable in the loft? what will the effect on both the satelite and standard tv signal at the wall socket in the lounge?
