Can I use an existing sky dish with a freeview box? and if so can the two servic
No, you cannot use a satellite box to receive terrestrial programmes.
I don't want to use a satellite box I have a freeview box. I want to know if an existing dish for sky can be use with the freeview box.Can I use a cable splitter and run one end to the sky box the the other to a freeview box and get the freeview channels.
You cannot use a Freeview receiver with a satellite dish, only an aerial.
You also cannot split a satellite signal from a dish, if you want to run more than one box you must use a dual- or quad-LNB on the satellite dish and have a cable to each satellite receiver.

E Reid:
You must go for a new lnb & second cable, splitting the cable will damage the equipment.

Hi
Can anyone help me with this as getting different information from different electronic shops I go to.
I have a sky dish with a quad lnb but have sky plus in two rooms so all cables coming from dish are in use. Is it possible to split the signal from one of the cables so I can connect to a satellite receiver in another room, or will I have to put an octo lnb onto the dish??

Stephen: Quite simply, an Octo LNB is the answer, as a satellite receiver sends polarity switching instructions (voltages) to the LNB and so it cannot be shared with another receiver, there is a gadget you can get (stacker) that allows this, but as well as being costly its very critical in operation, so I never advise its use.

Trev: provided the Sky HD box isn't an Amstrad DRX595 then you can run a co-ax lead from its RF1 output to the aerial socket of the TV in the kitchen, then you set the kitchen TV on "analogue" if its a dual standard analogue / Freeview TV, followed by carrying out on auto-tune on it to pick up the Sky boxes RF output.
Should the picture be distorted in any way or spoil any Freeview you might already be viewing on it give an update and info can be given on how to alter the Sky boxes RF output, as the channel its sitting on will be the cause of the problem.

Hi jb38,
Thanks for your help, just another question.
we have wall mounted tv sockets in our house, one in the living room and one in the kitchen. as we no longer use a tv aerial the cable is disconected in the loft. is there any way of connecting the cables together and using the two wall boxs to connect the two TVS to my Sky box.
