Problem fixing

If your receiver is an old one it might not be able to receive the 8k transmissions.

See this web site for more info.
Freeview on Hannington TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

Look under mode and you will see something like
64QAM 8K 2/3
24.1Mb/s
DVB-T MPEG2

under each Mux.

If your receiver can not receive the 8k transmissions then TV channels on that Mux will not be available.

The other thing is that the signal might be too strong and taking out your aerial amp might help. You can also fit a attenuator in the cable to reduce signal strength.

I have a caravan at snettisham beach and have leared on the grapvine that I should now be able to redirect my aerial and retune to the Kings Lynn/ Sandringham transmitter. Can anyone advise me on this, I would be most grateful

Eric Lacey: That is correct, King's Lynn transmitter at Sandringham now broadcasts BBC, ITV1, ITV2, C4, C5, E4, More4, HD and a few others.

Before switchover it, Burnham and Wells-next-the-Sea only carried BBC One and Anglia TV. The purpose was to provide the correct regional programming for an area served adequately by Belmont. That is, viewers would have one aerial on Belmont for watching BBC Two and Channel 4 and one on King's Lynn for BBC One East and ITV1 Anglia.

Due to the fact that King's Lynn is a Public Service Broadcaster transmitter only, viewers may wish to continue using either only Belmont or both King's Lynn and Belmont in order to receive the full range of Freeview channels.

Unfortunately, due to frequency planning of the commercial channels from Belmont (and Waltham), it is not a simple case of diplexing (combining) the two aerials.

Hi, I have a problem and I don't know how to fix it???
I have a DTI6300 Rhomson PVR. It is hooked up to my Sony Flatscreen. The trouble is... I can get all channels on the PVR, but I am missing channels 15, 18 and 21 on my Sony freeview television. I have checked the coaxial cables, and replaced them. No use. I fiddle around with the RF Output on the PVR and it makes me able to see the channels on my Television, but as soon as I take my hand away....The channels can't be seen.. so I know for certain it has to do with the RF out connection on my PVR... I just don't know how to fix it????? Any help would be really appreciated,

Thanks

Russell Plumb: Your problem can be caused by two possible reasons, one of being that the signal you are receiving is on the verges of being on the weak side whereby only the most sensitive device can receive the channels a test being to connect the aerial directly into your TV, if this is found to rectify the situation then the problem is most likely due to a weak signal.

But however!! there is a qualification on that, being that your boxes RF modulator "might" be sitting either on, or close to the channel used by the ArqB multiplex that the problem channels are on, so this aspect would require checking but which can only be done with knowledge of your location, (pref: post code) as that would then enable a check to be made on the ArqB multiplex that covers your area.

Further advice can then be given dependant on the answer to this request.

Russell Plumb: You haven't disclosed your location on this forum, although your Twitter account identifies you as being in Essex. You wouldn't be using Sudbury by any chance, would you? Arqiva B multiplex (which carries the services you have identified) is on low power until 27th June.

It is also on channel 63 until then, so make sure that the RF out channel is not anywhere near there if you are on Sudbury. If there is an option to turn it off, then do so.

Russell Plumb: And of course should what Dave Lindsay has said (Re: aspect of Sudbury) apply and the modulator is found to be well away from Ch63 (default usually Ch38) then the only way out of your problem is to use a two way powered splitter to enable you to feed the same level of signal to both the box and the TV.

Or of course just hold off until the end of June when the problem should then vanish.

A Freesat question.
I am not keen on having a satelite dish in a prominent position on my house wall. What is the maximum distance allowed from dish to box?

Barry there is no maximum distance it all depends on dish size cable quality and where you want it to go there is also one other the size of your wallet because as each one goes up so does the price hope this helps
