What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Very good advice. Saves me having to go to Sky via my phone cos it's expensive and your 3rd method def fixed the problem. I think also that when Sky upgrade their own system such as bringing in the new look and on demand stuff that this may cause glitches on the Sky plus HD boxes.

Mal: Of course there is a reason!
THere is now a two-tier terrestrial transmitter network. About 90% of the population can receive all the channels but the other 8.5% who can receive terrestrial TV can only receive the Public Service channels because the Commercial broadcasters don't consider it worth their while to serve them.

Mal: Further to Dave Lindsay's reply, the relay mast at Maesteg transmits the PSB muxes on the same frequencies that are used for the COM muxes at Kilvey Hill, thereby blocking reception of the COM muxes that might otherwise have been possible at your location.

My sky signal is not working and i was told it would cost £65 to get engineer which i find ridiculous because when they came to install everything they were pretty lazy and put my wire under door instead of putting it around door... anyway the person i spoke to i am very sure was a Robot and was as good at people skills as David Cameron is at running uk (which is not very good for the head scratchers) . I was just wondering if anyone had any solutions? Thanks for your reading time Robert

Dear Sir,
You instruction are pure gobbledegook! I can't even find this card you speak of.
Clearly, I cannot mend this machine. It was perfectly O.K. last time I had the televsion on.

Robert: "No signal" can be caused by either a fault with the box or alternatively your dish having been knocked (or blown) slightly out of alignment, and going by what you have said you can add possible cable damage to this.
In the order of possible reasons I would put the cable as first, the dish alignment second and the box last, "if" it hasn't previously been playing up.
If you are using a standard Sky box press "services - 4 - 6" and check if any level of signal / quality is showing, because if it is then it has to be above 50% to produce a picture, should it be indicating less than this your dish requires slight realigning, however if no level whatsoever is seen then you should make a close examination the cable in the door area for signs of it having being crushed, which of course can short out the signal.
These are the things that you can easily check, because "no signal" can also be a symptom of the dish having moved too far out of alignment to give even the slightest of indications on the level bar, or of course a defect with the box, the only way of verifying which applies being to try the box on someone else's system or alternatively their box on yours.
Also meant to add, that a short circuit inside one of the "F" connector plugs could also be responsible, and these should be carefully unscrewed from the coax and a check made to ensure that a single strand of braiding has not got accidentally caught around the middle core when the plug was being screwed on to the coax.
Finally, another possible reason being connected to the weather we have been experiencing, that is the possibility of water having entered the "F" connector at the dish end, unscrewing same being the only way of finding out if this applies or not.

Pettengell: You will need to clarify exactly what you are referring to, but if its connected to the instructions at the very top of this page then some non-subscription Sky boxes might not have a card inserted, as cards are not really required unless viewing a programme dedicated to a Sky package.

Hi,
I have moved house and the Sky+ receiver was unplugged for about 3 weeks and now no longer works (No light on the front panel)
I think I remember reading that the receiver needs to be re-set after being unplugged for so long. Could you please tell me how I would go about doing this.
Regards,
Keith.

Keith Gee: Leaving the box unconnected for that period of time should not result in what you have reported, and so you should double check to make sure that the mains connector on the rear of the box is fully inserted into its socket as the light you refer to should come on irrespective of anything else.
Of course it has to be said that Sky boxes power units can, and do fail, as these boxes in common with many other transistorised devices that run permanently warm by being continually powered up (albeit in standby) can fail if allowed to completely cool down, but though only "if" any deficiencies existed in the power supply to start off with, and so should the box still fail to come on after having checked the mains connection then what I have just mentioned could possibly apply.
If you have another mains connector lead you should try the box out using that, as this type of lead is commonly used by a multitude of devices such as laptops / camcorders power units etc, etc.
