Anne R: As well as Dave Lindsay's request for your post code for purposes of assessing your signal strength, you should also be aware that because its increasingly becoming possible to receive signals from more than one transmitter in the UK, that very fact can easily create problems with devices such as you have insomuch that its very easy to exceed the devices memory storage capacity. (of only 75)

If this happens it can either reject any further channels being picked up, or if it doesn't it will lose them when its switched off.

Manual tuning of the multiplexes required being the only way of getting over the problem.

The signal strength is ok as I havetwo other flat screens that are working ok. I think it may have something to do with not having reset my channels when the TV had to be reset earlier in the year??

Thanks jb38 Ill have a look to see how many channels its picked up. I would have thought it would start picking up from BBC1 not from channel 10?

Anne R: Yes, but your location query was only made because you "might" reside in an area where the BBC and ITV1 transmitters are on full high power operation whereas the others aren't, and if the signal being received via your rooftop aerial is too strong it could be blocking reception of these channels, hence the problem you are experiencing. (only mentioned as its just one possibility!)

This problem, should it be applicable in your case, is not unique to the device you are using as it can happen with any Freeview receiver.

Alison: Can you post the make and model of your receiver? Some older models won't work after switchover.

BBC signals have now "switched", and therefore affected models will loose the ability to receive BBC channels. The model number will help determine whether this is the case here or not.

No installation/re-tune menu appeared when I plugged in my freeview box, all I get is a no signal message. I do not have an roof top aerial, does this matter?

I have a LG 42PC10v television. I bought a Goodman's Low Energy Set Top (freeview) box (marked for digital tv) today, along with a One For All amplified indoor aerial (there is no aerial socket in the wall of the flats where we live) I cant get anything to work. does anyone know how to fix this up so we can at least have tv for Christmas? My husband is severely disabled and housebound. We had a Freesat box that packed up on us this morning due to the dish being out of alignment and the engineer cant visit until after Christmas. this could be a pretty bleak Christmas season if we have to watch dvds for the next two weeks or so! Any advice?

Sheena-Ann Brown: Although I fully sympathise with your predicament its not really possible to offer advice when you have not indicated your location, this having to be in the form of a post code or one from somewhere nearby e.g: a shop, as only once this is known can access be made to the reception predictor and advice appropriate to the location be given.
