What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

D Montgomery: Have you carried out a signal strength / quality test on your box using the undermentioned procedure? this only being mentioned in case you are not aquaint with this test.
Sky HD box - signal checking.
1:- Press "Services" on your Sky remote control and you will see the main menu with "Options" highlighted.
2:- Highlight the Settings menu using the right arrow button and press select.
3:- Use the left / right arrows to scroll to "Signal" and then press select.
4:- The grey bars displayed will show you the strength of the signal on your Sky HD box.
Both the strength & quality indicated "has" to be around 60% or more to produce a reliable picture as anything much under this points to the dish being slightly out of alignment, something that can cause intermittent glitching problems etc.

D Montgomery: Well yes, but rebooting the box doesn't make any difference to any possible deficiency that might exist in the signal strength / quality received, because should it exist then that kind of thing can cause various odd problems to occur apart from what was mentioned.
The other point to note being, that Sky standard boxes do not necessarily use the same tuners as are fitted in + HD boxes and this can result one box appearing as being perfectly OK with a signal whilst the other box suffers from picture glitching etc.
Still if its OK just now then that's all that matters.

I got a no signal message mid programme. I have sky multi room and sky works in other room so presume its not a dish problem. Tried the various techniques as per sky website re this to no avail. Contacted sky who asked me to do it all again whilst online again to no avail. In order to check its not a problem with my box I moved it to the other room and it works OK however neither box gets a signal in main room. Any ideas what I can do. Sky being sky want to charge for an engineer

topcat: Your Sky boxes are fed by totally individual feeds from the dishes LNB even although the coax cables are all connected into the same block, and so if this problem occurred whilst no activities were going on as far as moving anything about is concerned then either the port on the LNB that feeds the main room has developed a fault, or water has gained access to the "F" connector.
What to do is trace the cable from the main room to the LNB and unscrewed it from the block holding only the retaining ring and not the body of the connector, then transfer the cable on the other port (that feeds the other room) over to the one you have just removed the main room cable from then try the box out in the other room to see if its still working, if not then that port on the LNB is defective, but should the box in the other room still be working then that points to water inside the "F" connector thats used to feed the main room.
Carefully unscrew it from the coax by holding the body of the plug and dry it out with a tissue, then if available give the inside of the connector a smear of Vaseline before screwing it back onto the coax making sure that "all" strands of braiding are pulled back over the coax cables cover, then screw the connector back onto the block.
By the way you do not require to connect it into its original port as they are all the same.

HI
My SKY HD box has has just started giving error message of no satellite signal after 5years of faultless operation. It started recently by intermittantly locking up and having to reboot it.
I tried power down and swapping the LNB cables on the LNB as it's a quad LNB but still had error message. Put them back to original positions, fault still apparent, some programs were there and some were not. I set the box to single feed and now have all channels. Does this point to the LNB or HD box being U/S.
Regards
Simon

simon: Thats inclined to indicate that one of the two feeds from the dish is faulty and so carry out a signal strength / quality check as that will soon reveal which one it is, as both should indicate levels of around 60% minimum for reliable reception.
Further advice dependant on results of the test.
