UKTV's Drama to be on Freeview 20

Drama, which starts on 8 July 2013, will be on Freeview channel 20.

published on UK Free TV

Drama, the new channel from UKTV (see New channel coming to Freeview - Drama from 8 July) will cause a few number changes for Freeview homes.

If you use Top Up TV, you will find that Home will move to channel 54, and GOLD will shift up six places to 26.

This means there will be room for the new Drama channel at number 20 (contrary to expectations that it would displace Dave Ja Vu at 25).

UKTV's other channels Dave at 12, Really at 17 and Yesterday at 19 do not change.

I can get Drama on my Sony Bravia on channel 20 but my Philips (aka Pace) PVR refuses to find it even after a reset. Any suggestions? I'm about 15 miles from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter.

dave lincoln: Although unable to provide the frequency due to the fact of your location being unknown (post code), but Drama is on the same multiplex as (10) ITV3 / COM4 / SDN, and with Yesterday being on COM6 / ArqB as used by (24) ITV4.

Bandwidth should be set to 8Mhz.

thanks for the reply
sorry i'm in lincoln using an old hauppauge win tv nova-t (over 10 years old but still going strong) with technotrend drivers for win 7, as hauppauge doesn't support the card anymore :-(

i wouldn't mind receiving freeview through a combi dvb-t/hd t dvb-s/hd s but theirs so many of the cards on the market i've no idea which to choose

anyways it worked perfectly on windows xp so i'm pretty sure it should be able to receive those two :-).

dave lincoln: If you actually reside in Lincoln then dependant on exactly where you are located within the area you could possibly be receiving Freeview from the Lincoln Central PSB only relay, and if by any chance you are then this station does not transmit commercial multiplex channels such as used by Drama and Yesterday. However, should you be able to view ITV3 / ITV4 then those programmes could be received from either the Waltham or Belmont transmitters, the frequencies used for Drama and Yesterday from both stations being as follows / Belmont : Drama Ch30 - 545.8 Mhz / Yesterday Ch60 - 785.8 Mhz. Waltham : Drama Ch29 - 538.0 Mhz / Yesterday Ch57 - 762.0 Mhz. Please note, if your tuner stick is as old as you say then you might have problems locking on to Belmont as both frequencies mentioned are negative offsets from the channels (30 & 60) true frequency. As far as choosing another Stick is concerned, unfortunately by not really being involved with these type of devices I am unable to advise on this.

thanks again, i think the problem is the software i'm using ( progdvb pro ) isn't or can't tune into those channels, i know that the pci card can receive most channels (not sure about the 2 i can't tune into ), as i can't access my windows xp harddrive, which had the win-tv nova terrestrial software on, windows xp only, (i tried using the original software, but that won't install on windows 7 as it doesn't detect my card whatsoever. i'm in the process of writing a how to get the card working on windows 7, as a few people still have this card and couldn't get it working at all (it'll probably take me a few weeks to write, and then it's got to be accepted by the hauppauge moderating team

cheers for now

I have 2 TVs both receiving programmes on freeview and both using the same outdoor aeriel via a splitter. One of them after retuning can receive channel 20 'Drama' and the other cannot. I have tried retuning the second one several times and also run the find new DVB programme, but it still says channel 20 is unavailable. What can I do to connect to it please? I have never had this problem with any other new channel.

Lynne: Did you try carrying out a "first time installation" procedure on the problem TV rather than just auto-tuning it? first time installation also being called "factory reset" / "default setting" or some similar description dependant on brand.

Sometimes this problem can be rectified by carrying out an auto-tune but "with the aerial removed" for the purpose of blanking out the channels already stored, this then being followed by reconnecting the aerial again and carrying out a second auto-tune.
