Lisa: And of course as far as the aerial lead goes connect one box first and then the other. If it doesn't work try it the other way around (there is no need to adjust the scart/HDMI connections as these are independent of the aerial connections).

Lisa: Just a little extra point concerning your new YouView box, "if" by any chance its a Huawei brand (please ignore this request if it isn't) then once you have completed the set up procedure and tuned in the Freeview channels I would be interested to know if you can view Drama on guide number 20.

My reason for asking being, that quite a number of viewers have complained that they cannot receive Drama on the Huawei box, something that's been known about by the suppliers of this device since July 8th but have not as yet (as far as I know anyway!) came up with a solution, and so just for the record I would appreciate if you could try this and give an update on the result.

thanks guys it all works , I went ariel - harddrive - Youview then HDMI from both to TV and they both work independently.
TV does not work without one of the boxes now, as it has no aerial, but the only problem that causes is having to switch 2 items on to watch normal tv
Thank YOU
jb38, I will have a look tonight, yes I believe its huawei

cheers

Lisa: Many thanks for the info, as I suspected that your box was liable to be that brand and such an ideal source of up to date info on whether or not the well documented Drama channel problem had been rectified, a problem that has resulted in so many complaints although not necessarily on this site, however going by what you have reported would suggest that it finally has been sorted out.

Thanks again!

debbie: Yes.

However, if the TV has Freeview built-in then the stand-alone Freeview box is perhaps superfluous.

Without explanation of the purpose of the booster (how it's connected) I shall assume that the aerial feed goes into the booster, out of it and into the Freeview box and out of that and into the TV.

If you wish to add a Freeview recorder then just daisy-chain it on the aerial feed. That is put the recorder before or after the Freeview box.

If your TV does not have built-in Freeview then there is no need to connect the aerial feed into the TV as it serves no purpose.

I have Sky at present but costs are too much for me. What do I have to do to change to Freeview? Can I use my present satellite dish or do I have to get a new areal and new box to record etc ?

Pauline Baggio: Have a look at the FAQs regarding free to watch satellite here, primarily #1: Most popular questions | ukfree.tv - 11 years of independent, free digital TV advice

There are some differences between Freesat and Freeview (Dave, Yesterday and some other channels are not available on Freesat). Also, if you have a Sky+ box that you'd like to keep using the PVR functionality on, you would need to pay Sky £10/month.

If you don't want to remain on satellite, but already have an aerial set up at the property then you should get good reception of all Freeview channels and would just need to purchase a Freeview+ box to record.
