Simon:

you may need to retune the analogue on your tv to pickup the sky picture.

The rf on sky boxes are defaulted to channel 68, if you old box was set to a different channel then this is why you would have no picture.

Whilst you are doing this I would suggest you change the channel from 68 on the sky box as this will be used for 4G.

it will depend which transmitter you use as to which will be the best to change it to. But it will definitely need to be below 59.

regards

Jamie:

I have tried retuning the analogue several times but no good. I cant recall what channel my old sky box was set too. What do you mean by the transmitter?
I will try changing the default below 59 then and scan again.
Thanks for the advice, ill let you know how i get on.

Simon:
I think Jamie is referring to your local Freeview transmitter, even though you are discussing a Sky box. You need to find a channel that is not used by any of the Freeview transmitters in your area so that their signals do not interfere with the signal from your Sky box. So if a local transmitter were to be using, say, channels 21, 23, 26, 28 and 31 then they are the channels to avoid using - and allow 'space' between channels to minimise the risk of interference.
A postcode would help to identify your local transmitters (both main and repeater ones) so you can find what channels are already used and select one that is unused at present.

I have just installed a Samsung TV in the kitchen and connected it via co-ax cable on a direct feed from Sky HD box and got a perfect picture. I have now bought a Magic Eye and have followed the instructions to turn RF2 output on sky box and when magic eye is plugged directly into sky hd box the red light is on but when I plug it into second TV (Samsung) the red LED does not light up and I can't change channels - also the picture is now fuzzy. Postcode is LE5 with RF2 channel on 68.......can anyone help??

Hi
Please help My Sky Remote on my Kitchen TV has just stopped working sky (it was working fine until today) but it does still work the TV volume. I have checked all connections and RF2 is "on" also the red light is on the magic eye and the new booster box in the loft is all working and green lighted It is a brand new LG TV and I have reset the remote with the nearest code number 1293 but still no joy would appreciate any ideas

Heyder: What you have reported can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but if you are meaning that although being able to view Sky on your new LG TV via the "analogue" link from the boxes RF2 you are unable to change channels on same using the Sky remote control, then temporarily connect the eye straight into the boxes RF2 outlet and try changing the channels, this of course "after" having temporarily covered the "front" of the box with a thick towel to blank off its internal I.R receiver.

If the aforementioned procedure makes no difference to the situation then the eye is defective.

As far as the code is concerned i.e: 1293, this only enables you to alter the TV volume as channel changing on a Sky box from a remote position still requires a Sky control.

JB38 Thanks for your reply I did as you said and tried both magic eyes that I own, directly into RF2 of my digibox and both worked sky on my living room TV. I do have a REV8 sky remote control for the kitchen TV by the way. I just don't know what else to try I am considering buying a SWRT 750 (TV Out Plate) and installing this in the kitchen and running a piece of digital coax into the new TV. I have a new puppy and it looks like she has cut through the coax outer sheath By the way I have also rebuilt my sky in the services>0> 0> 1>select still cant get the remote to work in the kitchen.

Heyder: Provided that you definitely covered the front of the Sky box with the suggested thick towel to prevent the boxes I.R pick up sensor from overriding the magic eye and that you used the kitchen TV's Sky remote control for the test, then that eliminates those items as being responsible including the eyes decoding circuitry in the Sky box.

Another test I would like you to try is leave the magic installed in the kitchen as normal but do "not" connect the output from the eye into the LG TV and see what happens, as the "output" from the eye does not require to be connected into anything in the second location for it to be able change channels on a Sky box located elsewhere.

By the way, has the eye been working OK since the new booster box was fitted? and does the link from the boxes RF2 go through the new booster box before being fed into the kitchen? the only reason for asking is that eye systems are sensitive to long cable runs.

Further info dependant on reply.

Hi JB38
Just finished carrying out the things you have suggested we even set up a new aerial to test in the loft retested both magic eyes and both worked. We are getting a good strong picture and red light on the magic eye but unable to change channels or work sky in any way. The eye was working fine the other day. We think the return to the box in the loft is where the fault lies as the kitchen sky remote and the magic eyes work the living room TV we covered the sky box thoroughly so no signal could get through as you suggested. I have cut the aerial back from where the puppy cut into the outer sheath so the aerial cable from the booster box is uncut. I also fitted a brand new Antiference SW710UV as described in the schematic drawing of the booster box setup. No joy there either I guess it could be the cable length as you say but it was working fine the other day. Don't know where else to turn.
