Des Collier: You will likely have found this out by now anyway, but just in case that you havent the manual for this model does not indicate that its actually fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner but only an SD DVB-T type, meaning that if you try to manually tune in an HD channel it will respond with either a a "no signal" message or if a signal is indicated it will have zero quality.
Is this dongle you are referring to an actual HD tuner as such? because there is nothing that can be downloaded into the set to make it receive HD channels as its a hardware problem.

I have t/v splitter, my splitter takes my channels to two other rooms ok , with all the freeview channels - but on my main tv in living room, it wont bring up BBC 1 OR 2 or BBC news channel, but its ok for all the other channels - when I select BBC 1 AND 2 or News channel - I just get blue screen message that no signal is found! - I have attempted to re-tune but it wont do it - but as I say, it sends it to my other 2 t/v's ok. Any suggestions (it is a Hitachi).

Tom Mirfield:

it may be that your reception for those channels are marginal, If this is the case then it is possible for 1 tv to show the channels and another to not work.

When signal is marginal 1 brand and software will still happily work fine, yet another brand will display no signal.

If you try the tv on the other connection it will answer the question of (is there an issue with the tv)

regards

Tom Mirfield:
Further to what Jamie Stevens has stated, there is also the case that some TV sets have tuners that do not like signals that are too strong either!
You can check if that is the case by inserting a coaxial attenuator between the offending TV set's aerial input and the flylead feeding it. I would suggest a 6 dB one or a variable that are available from good stores.
If that does not resolve the issue, it could be due to weak signals on the BBCA multiplex. You could check that out by using the signal strength indications on the tuning set up page - but DO NOT start a scan. Check the strength and quality of a good channel and then a bad one, comparing the result. Ideally you do not want 100% signal strength but do want the best possible quality. This is especially true of HD services as that appears to be more susceptible to excessive strength problems
