How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.

Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan

  1. Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.

  2. Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.

  3. Check cables and connectors are in good order.
  4. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
  6. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  7. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  8. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  9. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB

If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.
  1. Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu".

  2. Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
  3. Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
  4. Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
  5. Press [SKY].
  6. Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
  7. Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
  8. Press [SKY].

Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software

If there are still problems:

  1. Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
  2. Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
  3. Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message – this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.

  4. Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
  5. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  6. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  7. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  8. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

dixon: What type (model) of satellite box are you referring to, Sky or Freesat?, and if the former is it a Sky+ or Sky+HD model?

However, a "no satellite signal" warning can be caused by a number of reasons, such as the dish having been moved (or knocked) slightly out of alignment, a faulty connection (short circuit) on one of the coax "F" connectors or water having entered same on the one connected into the dish, a faulty LNB being another possible reason.

Hi, I currently have Sky Multi-room. Recently my signal has been cutting out intermittently and gradually getting worse. Now on both of my boxes i am getting no signal at all. I have tried re-setting to no avail.
Upon checking signal strength i am getting nothing and Input 1 & 2 Lock Indicator are both displaying 'NOT LOCKED'
Does anyone know what this means and any possible way of fixing the problem?
Thanks in advance.

dixon:
You don't tell us anything about what equipment set up you have nor loacation.
Do you have a TV in another room and is it using the same dish/LNB? Does it have the same problems? How are the cables fed from the dish to your TVs?
With that sort of information we may be able to give some advice.

Joel : If both inputs 1 and 2 on the box are indicating "NOT LOCKED" then this points to the problem being with either the the dish, such as having been moved out of alignment, or the coax leads from the LNB having been damaged.

You should make a visual check for any signs of damage to the coax , but if none is seen then its almost certain that your dish will have to be realigned.

I have good strength signal (checked on meter) at end of cable from sat dish but my Sky HD box giving "Your Sky digibox is not receiving a satellite signal." The box is new and this is the first time I have used it. I have checked and double checked cable connection into box and it all seems fine.

Maureen: Is the dish referred to newly installed? and if so was the installation of same carried out by a recognised installer or was it a DIY job? because if the latter applies and it was it done with the aid of the signal strength meter referred to, then its possible that the "good signal strength" seen on the meter is not from the 28.2 degrees satellite but one of the others positioned adjacent to it, which in movement terms are only a fraction away from 28.2.

If though the dish is not newly installed, as has previously been used by either a Sky or Freesat box then it may have been accidentally moved (knocked) out of alignment, the easiest way by far of instantly verifying if the dish is OK or not being to test it out using another Sky or Freesat box, that is should you be able to borrow one!

Two other little points.

(1) Is the box a Sky+ HD type with twin LNB inputs?

(2) Was the indication of "no satellite signal" the result of carrying out a scan?

Further advice dependant on content of reply.
