Channel 5 HD will launch on Freeview
Channel 5 takes Freeview HD slot - Broadband TV News
"Channel 5 has been granted permission by Ofcom to launch its high definition channel on Freeview HD."
Channel 5 was the sole bidder for the fifth space on the "Freeview HD", BBCB multiplex, with a proposal to provide a full-time simulcast of the Channel 5 service in high definition.
Channel 5 will join BBC One HD, ITV1 HD (STV HD in Scotland, UTV HD in Northern Ireland in 2012), Channel 4 HD (or S4C HD in Wales) and BBC HD on the Freeview HD service.
Shortly BBC HD will be replaced by BBC TWO (England) HD.
It is not clear at this point if Channel 5 HD will also go on Freesat at the same time.
More soon.

what channels should i be able to receive on the West Kirby relay transmitter? When i moved to this address i did not realise i could not pick up freeview from winter hill, a bad mistake! Mike

Mike Dunning: West Kirby relay transmits only the "Public Service Broadcaster" multiplexes (groups of channels).
See this page:
Freeview multiplexes | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
You will get BBC channels, ITV1, C4, C5, ITV2, ITV1+1, C4+1, More4, E4 and HD channels.
The three commercial multiplexes (COMs) shown (SDN, ArqA and ArqB) broadcast only from around 80 transmitting stations. For more on this see:
Will there ever be more services on the Freeview Light transmitters? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
Depending on your location, you might be able to receive from another transmitter which does carry the Coms, such as Moel y Parc. Because it's a different region, you will need two aerials to get your desired regional programming. That will mean that you can watch the COMs from Moel y Park and PSBs from West Kirby.

Nedbod: Sadly Peter Bob Holness will no longer be one of them. It's BLOCKBUSTERS with an "S" by the way. Fans are in for a real treat on Challenge next weekend 28/29 Jan 2012 as there are 24 hours of BLOCKBUSTERS 9am-9pm Sat & Sun as a trubute. I think you will need several "P"s Bob over that period. :)-)-< ..... p

Well here we are in Sep 2015 and no sign of Channel 5 HD. Another gain for SKY I'm afraid. Well at least I save £10k + every 10 years, by not having SKY and am happy in the knowledge I am not adding to footballer's ever increasing wage bills. N

Here we are in 2018 and its been broadcasting for ages probably thanks to the demise of BBC THREE or BBC iii as the BBC now prefer to call it. At least I can still receive BBC iii on my FREESAT HUMAX box on my TV, if I can be bothered as the programmes don't generally interest me, but they aren't really targeted at my age range.
