Same problem along the south coast. Al Jazeera is only on channel 108 now but that's not available from Portsmouth to Brighton due to the Rowridge transmitter on Com 7 and C37 only having a power output of 24.4Kw. Lots of angry viewers giving digital UK grief. http://help.digitaluk.co.…8028

Walter raybould: Well, if you can receive C56 at at level of even 50%, then that indicates that your communal aerial is basically OK for what its intended to do, as C56 is a low powered transmitter radiating on only 2Kw compared to C31 on 27.5Kw, the other six muxes radiating on 100Kw with the exception of C37 (COM8 HD) on 22.6Kw.
Taking the aforementioned into consideration is inclined to suggest that the communal aerial system is indeed fitted with a channel filter, although I would try a make an enquiry with someone who resides outwith the communal aerial system to ascertain that C31 can actually be received in the area, that is even although its predicted by DUK as being possible.

J, by way of a coincidence, an engineer has just been to the sheltered housing here and has succeeded in fixing the problem. He had to replace filters on the control box in the loft and on the aerial. He reckoned that STORTON gave the stronger boost. I re-tuned my TV's on C31, and Al Jazeera HD appeared along with a few other HD channels, all told i can now receive 17 extra channels and am well pleased with the Freeveiw content and quality. Everything you had suggested in your previous bloggs ,were spot on. Thanks once again.

Walter raybould: Many thanks for the update, much appreciated! pleased to know that you have finally succeeded in capturing the elusive C31.
I do feel though that your problem is one which is very likely to crop up with communal aerial viewers in other areas where the COM7 (or 8) transmitters covering their area are operating on an entirely different band from the main Muxes, as band filters are used in numerous communal aerial systems.
The main purpose of these filters being to eliminate the possibility of inconvenience caused by multiple channel pick up from other "out of area" transmitters, something which can plague viewers in certain areas every time retuning is required in order to update the EPG to cater for additional programme channels.

js: Thanks js!
By the way, I find your own updates on what's happening on Satellite etc of interest, the info recently supplied alerting me into updating the EPG listings on my own Freesat devices in order to accommodate the return of "Keep it country", having been completely unaware of same.

Thanks J & jb38, this has been an interesting forum. The Engineer who re-tuned our aerial suggested some viewers retuning their TV'S would probably pick up some Welsh channels in this area. So far ,so good for my own requirements though as i have a good quality HD pickup. and my favorite AL Jazeera is back on stream. Cheers.

Walter raybould: Well, although the Welsh Moel-y-Parc transmitter is indeed indicated as being receivable in your area and at a good signal level (clear line-of-sight), tuning into the Welsh station wouldn't help the situation as far as receiving Al Jazeera etc in your housing complex is concerned, as Moel-y-Parc's COM7 transmits on C32, and as such would be blocked by the aerial filter in the same way as Winter Hills C31.
I will say though, that the management of your complex would certainly appear to be on the ball!, as I was really impressed at the speed the aerial engineers arrived to retune / replace the filters, especially as it wasn't actually a system breakdown but just an upgrade.
Anyway, pleased to know that your COM7 problem is now OK. Cheers/jb.

Since Al Jazeera has moved to a HD channel on 108, the signal has just dropped down to below 10 on the signal level and just not watchable And another point is that Samsung sells te Smart TV with catch up already installed but no All4
