From Wikipedia: The channel's annual budget for 2011/12 is 1,166.6 million.3 Along with the BBC's other domestic television stations, and many European broadcasters and some in Asia, it is funded principally by the television licence fee, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming with no commercial advertising at any time. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV1. This system used a vertically-scanned image of 30 lines just enough resolution for a close-up of one person, and with a bandwidth low enough to use existing radio transmitters. - en.wikipedia.org read more about BBC One (SD) on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

Stuart Stanton: Hi, Stuart. There are no reported problems at the Waltham on The Wolds tv transmitter today and so you and your neighbours shouldn't be experiencing any issues. Richard, Norwich. PS study this website in more detail next time, thus making a 'self-diagnosis possible. Brian has put lots and lots of information on this website to help you to solve your own issues before asking for help.

Unable to access BBC channel on LG Freeview TV. All other channels are being received clearly. Tried manual retune and factory reset, but still no BBC!
Contacted LG to check if there was a problem with the TV and they advised that the signal may be affected due to work currently being carried out on winter hill transmitter.
I cannot find any details of work being done that may affect my TV. My post code is M20 3FX.
Can you advise what could be the problem?

Angela Murphy: Hi, Angela. It is possible that you have lost the group of BBC channels as a result of a deterioration in your aerial or aerial cabling, which is letting the other groups of channels through, but not the BBC ones. Ask a friend who owns a multimeter to carry out a 'continuity test' on the aerial cable to ensure that is allowing a conducting path throughout its length. Inspect the 'ends' of the fly-lead from the wall to the tv, to ensure that none of the braiding strands has frayed away with the possibility of a 'short' circuit between the inner and outer conductors. Check that the coaxial plugs and/or sockets used are well connected, with no' shorts' and that the screw threads are tight, but not over-tight. Finally, how old is your aerial? If it is ten years old or more, you should consider replacing it. TV aerials don't last forever and can be replaced with a new one for under 30 for the aerial, although if you don't fit the new one yourself or get a friend to help, a contractor would obviously charge on top for labour and VAT. Hope the above info. might help, Richard, Norwich.

My transmitter is Bluebell Hill in Kent. I have just re-scanned my channels as BBC News channel has moved to 231. However, I now have BBC1 London as Channel 1 instead of BBC1 South East. I have checked my aerial and it is pointing to Bluebell Hill. Has Bluebell Hill changed Channel 1 from BBC! South East to London?

Andrew Maynard: Your TV has probably picked up a different transmitter when retuning, as no transmitters have changed region since DSO completed in 2012. Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters are available at your location, where you are in relation to them and your predicted signal strength etc.

Thanks for the help StevensOnl1. My postcode is TN12. I have found BBC1 South East on Channel 820. When I compare The signal strength of BBC1 London and BBC1 South East they seem about the same. I have also re-scanned and still end up with the same result.

Andrew Maynard: We need a full postcode, the first half covers a wide area and does not give a coverage prediction result. If you don't want to give your own postcode, provide one from a nearby shop etc.

Yes, I did not want to provide my full postcode. Here is one from a nearby building TN12 9JB. I have no doubt my aerial is pointing at the Bluebell Hill transmitter as I can see it with binoculars. The aerial and TV I have had for many years, this only occurred yesterday when I re-scanned as advised by a banner on the bottom of the BBC 24hr News channel stating it was changing and I would need to re-scan. As stated I have checked the signal strength (72) and error rate (zero) for both channels and they are the same.
