We are independent and do not wish to be confused with Freesat
published on UK Free TV

We are independent and do not wish to be confused with http://www.freesatfromsky.com/ - for Brian Butterworth's CV, click here.

The site contains full information about both the Sky and non-Sky FTA satellite receivers, but we have found that the majority of people who are using free-to-air satellite have ex-contract Sky receivers. The problems with Solus cards have dealt with on the site in the past.

The BBC and ITV are planning an alternative Freesat service. As soon as they announce anything, I'll be happy to publish it.

Sky don't really like publicizing their free-to-air satellite service, and did not even have a website for the service until recently. (For example, they still have not updated the Sky News logo on their site). UK Free receives no payment from Sky for their advertisement, it's just there to help those people who can't get Freeview!

There is lots of information for Freesat people, for example.

These pages provide links to find local installers and (not-just-Sky) satellite shops:

As soon as high-street multiples (Argos, Dixons etc) start stocking DIY Freesat equipment, I hope to extend the list on the "current set-top boxes".

When the site launched back in July 2002, we decided that specialist systems (multi-dish or motorised) were covered much better elsewhere in specialist magazines. Also, list of channels and frequencies is covered by the excellent lyngsat.com.

The site was born out of experience gained from ONdigital's technical support failure, and so the site has a large Freeview section.

We always welcome contributions and are always interested in extending the depth of information.

Please sort out your notification e-mail system. It sends the same notification 4-8 times, I unsubscribed because of this, yet notifications are still sent to my e-mail address.

Andrew Tonkin:

It is in Kent, as stated on the page for that transmitter. The map is correct as well.

I'd repeat Finn Ellebaek Nielsen's comment, I am now getting 10-12 copies of notifications. The first was the "Much needed updates have been done". I suspect your email address database needs de-duplicating.

I would like to get updates on Crystal Palace instead
of Sandy Heath but there doesn't seem to be a way of
changing it. The post code predictor always points to
Sandy as we are able to receive signals from both.
Also the emails may point to,say,5 updates but when
the link is clicked they are not obvious.

Frank Hird:

The post code for the Crystal Palace transmitter is SE19 1UE

Put that into http://www.digitaluk.co.u…er/, select detailed view and press Go. That will show you all the current information for Crystal Palace.

Funny that! If I click on the link (F's digitaluk trade) at the bottom of Frank Hird's post, it clearly shows all the information both from Sandy Heath AND Crystal Palace (including the Local mux).

Frank Hird:

If you mean email updates from ukfree.tv about posts on the Crystal Palace page, just go and post on it, you will then get told about updates on any posts. However the Digitaluk checker generally has more accurate information about the transmitters and predicted reception.

Hi. The listing for Midhurst, under "Which Freeview channels does the Midhurst transmitter broadcast?" gives D3+D4 on Channel C54 (738.0MHz)

In contrast. further down the page under "How will the Midhurst (West Sussex, England) transmission frequencies change over time?" it says that, as of 16 Oct 2019, D3+D4 is on Channel C35 (586.0MHz).

The other channel allocations seem to tie up.

So, which is it? C54 or C35?

John K:

The listings from 16th October 2019 are the correct ones. The site owner is aware of many lists that haven't yet been updated as he hasn't be able to get all the changes due to the 700MHz clearance noted. There are over 1100+ transmitters in the UK, quite a few of which have changed. In the meantime, the best place for accurate information (usually) is Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free

Why do I see adverts for dodgy boxes that claim to replace cable TV? They may be freeview, probably dont do HD, and every TV has freeview now.
