My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+Wednesday 1 June 2011 3:37PM

jackieme: Further to my post above if your aerial is pointing to the Cannongate relay transmitter you will only receive the 3 PSB muxes after switchover. This will include Channel Five together with ITV2, E4, more4, ITV1+1 and Channel 4+1 only. To receive the additional channels on the COM muxes it will be necessary to receive signals direct from Craigkelly,if this is possible at your location.

james Mulholland: Film4 is on MuxD which is transmitted on C65 from Black Hill. As this is the highest frequency in use on this transmitter it is likely to be the first one to be affected by obstructions in the signal path (trees, tall buildings etc), deterioration in the aerial condition or faulty connectors/cables. It could also be a case of single frequency interference caused by the RF modulator of a VCR or Sky box blocking the required signal. At this stage it is probably not worth investigating the problem as switchover step 2 is on 22nd June 2011 when MuxD becomes MuxArqB on C47 at 100kW.

Bern Finch: If ITV1 is breaking up make sure that the channels stored are being received from the transmitter that the aerial is pointing towards. If you are using Mendip this is C54, but you could have found a signal from Backwell on C28 or Wenvoe on C44 earlier in the scan. Regarding ITV4, this is carried on Mux ArqB which is currently shown as giving poor reception by the Digital UK postcode checker. The COM muxes from Mendip are shown as having good reception from 28th September 2011 when the frequencies are changed,so a re-tune will be necessary on that date. Reception improves further on 28th March 2012 when the full DSO power is adopted.

Mary Cross: It was a decision taken by the owners of the Com muxes not to extend the service to relay sites not already served. This was because it would more than double the cost of providing the service whilst only adding a small percentage of extra viewers. Most viewers using the relay transmitters can either receive the COM muxes direct from a main station (using a suitable aerial) or receive extra channels via satellite or cable. As an example the Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception on all six muxes to be available from Mendip at your location, with an alternative transmitter due to enter service on 18th April 2012 (Rowridge VP) also offering good reception.

Don Johnstone: Did you do a factory reset to remove all memory of the Mux1 versions of BBC1 and BBC2 from the channel list? Check if they are currently in the 800s. If you still don't find Mux BBCA when rescanning after doing a factory reset check that your receiver or STB is not on the list of equipment that does not support the 8k mode. If it is on the list, a new Freeview box is required to continue viewing Freeview after switchover. Note some receivers do not like finding a mix of 2k and 8k mode muxes..Do a manual tune for Mux BBCA on C27 if this is the problem.

George Lindsay: You will not receive any channels carried on the SDN, ArqA and ArqB muxes. The Digital UK postcode checker does however predict all six muxes will be available with good reception from Black Hill at your location after switchover stage 2 on 22nd June 2011. At the present time you could find Angus gives good reception on all six muxes, with a signal slightly weaker than the post DSO transmissions awaited from Black Hill.

julie: The Digital UK postcode checker shows good reception on all muxes from the Belmont transmitter both now and after switchover at the postcode given. I am not sure why MuxA/SDN is missing at present, unless C68 is being blocked by interference, possibly from the RF modulator of a VCR or Sky box. The aerial fitter is correct, you should not require an amplifier unless the signal is split between several TVs.On 17th August MuxSDN changes frequency to C30- (together with mode change and power increase) so should no longer present any reception problems.

M.Munn: Check in the 800s in the channel list for channels that work. If the problem is finding weak signals from other transmitters during the early part of the scan you need to do a factory reset to clear the channel list then do a manual tune for the frequencies in use at the transmitter that your aerial is pointing to. I noticed on one Freeview box that when signals from both Nottingham/Kimberley and Waltham were present duplicates were stored for all BBC channels except BBC1.

jackieme: Switchover step 1 which took place this morning only delivers the BBC channels at high power from Craigkelly, and for the first time from its dependent relay sites, replacing analogue BBC2. Switchover step 2 0n 15th June 2011 will see high power working introduced on the remaining muxes at Craigkelly. Mux D3+4 and Mux HD will replace the remaining analogue services at relay sites.
