I agree with Kevin do a manual tune otherwise you will get
BBC East/ Anglia news no use to you in Kent.

I suspect you have tried this one, have you plug the aerial directly into the back of the digital recorder to see if you still get signal break up on the HD services?

Big Mart, are all your fly leads made of satellite quality cable? A few years back I had a problem with break up, I replaced all my leads with f connector leads terminated in aerial plugs, my set up loops thru several items, sky box, digital recorder, tv and then is split going to a kitchen and bedroom tvs, the replacement of these leads to high quality ones solved the problems I was having. Sorry to keep flooding you with ideas I'm just trying to give you new avenues to go down. You may have already tried the above, I might teaching granny to suck eggs here.

Big Mart, I made they up myself, got some satellite cable, f connector plugs and the adaptors to convert them to standard aerial plugs, I suppose the easier route would be to terminate the cables with good quality aerial plugs that would by pass the need to get f connectors and adaptors. the reason I use them is one of my hobbies is satellite reception so I always have loads of f connectors for my next rejig of my dish, you can get the bits from Maplin, B&Q, clas ohlson,

Big Mart. Satellite cable is double screened inside, it has a copper foil screen under the outter PVC insulation then under the copper foil is the copper braid then the centre solid copper wire also insulated, in practice most places will sell the higher quality cable now, Maplin only sell the higher spec cable ( although not the cheapest place to buy it). What I mean by high quality aerial plugs is metal ones, there are a few types of plugs out there that have.a plastic casing I personally would avoid these.

I understand how you feel, digital signals can a pain in the ar#@ sometimes. Analogue signals could at least be watched with a bit of interference but with digital its all or nothing.. I feel frustrated on your behalf, digital is great 99.9% of the time but if you have an untrackable fault then its a different story.

Big Mart. Your right I'm about 8 miles from you,, have you tried having a tidy up of your leads behind your tv as you can get interference between cables sometimes. Separating them as far as possible. It might be worth a try.
