Ken Keen: Presumably you did an auto scan? As that didn't work you will have to look for an option in the menu for a first time installation, factory/default setting or something similar in order to reset the box and delete all channels.

If there is no manual retune option, you will need to do the procedure mentioned above, but without the aerial plugged in, up after the channel search gets to UHF 32 - the one we want to miss out. If there's no display of UHF channel numbers when scanning, it should be plugged back in after 24% but before 42%.

Susan Arm: Click on the link to the side of your post that says "R+T Investigation" - the transmitter has been off since 0846 this morning.

josh: If you're sure of your TV of being Freeview HD, then post your make and model.

thomas: You won't get any channels from Bilsdale even with an outdoor aerial! You should however get channels from the Seaham transmitter to the west of the town, which a relay transmitter off Pontop Pike.

bren: All talk about 4G causing you problems is basically useless until you have called at800 to confirm there is an active 4G mast in your area (and they will also know when it was switched on).

kira: Since you believe it's 4G (and you're disregarding the BBC who state that it is not) - let's clear it up once and for all. Phone at800 on 0808 13 13 800 Mon-Sat 8-6 and ask them if there are 4G masts active within your area that have been switched on within the last 2 months.

They know exactly how close masts are to your postcode and when they were activated, so you can find out for sure if 4G is the problem.

Full technical details of Freeview

Michael Gilmartin: I'm not sure on the exact type (speak to an installer), but in terms of group it needs to be a group K or wideband. As for the HD channels, the aerial is just one part of it - the receiver (TV or box) needs to be Freeview HD (DVB-T2) and not just normal Freeview (DVB-T).

christopher dean: There's been an "HD signal" in Clacton-on-Sea since 2011. If you mean the extra HD channels (BBC4, News HD etc) from com7 then it's highly unlikely as Sudbury doesn't transmit them and you won't get a good enough signal from Dover or Bluebell Hill.

The 3rd September retune won't get you any extra channels, it's to reorganise the EPG.

Adam: The only differences to BBC services in Freelight light areas is the lack of CBeebies HD/Four HD and News HD and BBC Red Button 302. These channels are provided on commercial multiplexes (com7 and com6) due to the lack of availability on the public service multiplexes. All are available on satellite and cable.

If you have no HD channels or red buttons facilities then that is down to your equipment.

Karen: The TV licence is for the provision of BBC services, and as every Freeview light transmitter carries all of the available content (except the couple of channels mentioned above due to space/frequency restraints), you get the services that you pay for. Get Freesat if you want more channels.

ron: Probably because it is not a Freeview HD TV - if you don't get the HD channels then you won't get the RTE channels from the NI mux.
