Miss Jo Andrew: Could you start by giving your postcode, and which local news you get - we dont know where you are in relation to the transmitter or what transmitter that is. It could be that you've accidently tuned into another transmitter.

MHEG-5 is a format for interactive TV - have you pressed something on the remote which might bring that up?

BRIAN QUINN: because Dave etc are commercial channels, and your on a Light transmitter - they just dont think its worth broadcasting to you.

robert cole: Check your system - almost certainly its at fault - start with loose connections or damaged cables

Ian: Com 7 is much lower power than than the other Muxes, but could you check if your actual tuned into that transmitter?

And why isn't it recording? Does it just miss the recording, or does it try to record, but nothing gets picked up?

Jason Crook: Of course its rubbish - your just two miles away from the the transmitter! In essence, your tuner is being shouted at.
Search for 'too much of a good thing' on this site.

Bill: The question I was asking is the BBC4 your trying to record actually coming from Talcneston?

My PVR used to find another BBC1, and in essence 'get stuck' on it - check which channel its trying to pick up.

Your getting a good signal from that mux, so I'm otherwise at a bit of a loss - might be worth swapping out the flt lead, but I suspect it wont change much, and frarnkly, there is no logical reason why it would be the transmitter - if the mux is working, the mux is working.

Terry Palmiero:
Firstly, we need a postcode to work out where you are in relation to the transmitter, and which one you are supposed to get.

Next - if your not getting a signal, check why. Most likely problem is that you have a loose connection or broken cable somewhere - your signal comes via the aerial by a cable only 6mm wide, and is subject to the weather continually battering it.

Pulling out the cables and leaving them wont make any difference - and neither will retuning, it will just make things worse. As for portable aerials, they are generally not very good.

D. Meader: Glad its sorted, but Sandy Heath almost certainly isn't toying with you!

Kingshuk: I was going suggest the same thing - the TV certainly has a Freeview tuner, but you do have to connect to an aerial. The onscreen instructions are normally enough, but reading the manual is something you need to do.

Anthony: Check you cables and connections - losing a mux is a classic example of dogdy connections, etc. Swapping out the aerial lead is a cheap way of at least eliminating a possible problem - cheap and easy.
