Below are all of Corin's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. This news about Challenge and Pick TV going unencrypted is 18 days late.
The stations went clear on Eutelsat 28A and Astra 2A respectively on June 6th, 2012.
Why not some breaking news about the BBC Olympic streams, one of which was carrying a continuous looping promotion for $ky Sports?

"it is NOT advised to carry out a retune"
That is totally contrary to the official advice of Freeview (DTV Services Limited) who state quite categorically that regular re-tuning is not just advisable but absolutely necessary.

According to KingofSat and Lyngsat, STV HD West has left 10936V.
Now this afternoon I am getting zero quality reading on this frequency and no sign of ITV-1 HD Granada either.
Can somebody please confirm that ITV-1 HD Granada has now left 10936V and if so, to which frequency has it moved?

"Which BBC and ITV regional news can I watch from the Storeton transmitter?"
Should there not also be a photograph for BBC Wales Today, ITV News Wales, and BBC Cymru Newyddion? ;+)

The obligatory embarassing typographical error is at the top of the page.
"ITV +1 is a commerical-break funded"
And would it not be better to say financed rather than funded?
Funding is usual associated with sponsors of public non-commercial programs, eg the often heard
"funding in part from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting"

According to Lyngsat (reported on 2013-02-18) there are separate versions of ITV +1 for Wales and WestCountry/West from
SES Astra 2F at 28.2° East
transponder 63 on 11,053 GHz SR 22000 FEC 5/6
ITV Wales +1 SID: 20715 VPID: 2311 APID: 2312 (English)
ITV WestCountry West +1 SID: 20745 VPID: 2317 APID: 2318 (English)
So are Mendip and Wenvoe transmitters now carrying different regional versions of ITV+1 as appropriate to Wales and West+Westcountry?

This is completely pointless debate since regional identities on Channel 3 in England, Wales, and Southern Scotland disappeared in 2002, and legally with the transfer of licences to ITV Broadcasting Limited in 2009.
ITV plc wishes to drop the regional news as well and just have a national infotaintment type program (as exemplified by much of the content on London Tonight) instead as this appeals more to the demographic sought by advertisers.
As part of the policy to completely eliminate regional content, the next step is to reduce the on air time of regional news.
ITV is implementing this reducing the minutes of region specific news and have out of region commmon interest stories and OfCon have acceeded to this except for the ITV-1 Granada and ITV-1 London licence areas.
The mindless drones who watch ITV-1 could care less about region names and their only concern is that Emmerdale appears at 19:00h and Consternation Street at 19:30h.
Providing an audience of the right demographics for the advertisers is the only thing that matters to ITV plc and regional identities or content can do nothing to boost theose numbers.

Briatist "Corin: It's not an error. "Funded" is correct."
I did not write that funded" was an error but suggested that it may not be the best word to use.
Regardless, spelling "commercial" as "commerical" **is** an error as I did state, but for whatever reason you have ignored that fact.

"From memory, whoever's updating Lyngsat these days was getting mixed up over the names."
Thanks for the explanation on the names used by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the Channel 3 services.
However, my question
"So are Mendip and Wenvoe transmitters now carrying different regional versions of ITV+1 as appropriate to Wales and West+Westcountry?"
still remains unanswered.

In fact you can pick up three US TV stations in Europe from satellite -- BYU TV from Salt Lake City, UT, MSNBC, both on Telstar 12 at 15.0° West Europe and South Africa beams, and The Pentagon Channel on Eutelst 9A at 9.0° East.
Telstar 12 also carries NBC feeds on the Europe and South African beams, one of which is frequently the NBC Today Show (the original breakfast tv show) from NBC
s Manhattan headquarters.
CNN [USA] also used to be available on Telstar 12 for a number of years but was discontinued about 2 years ago.
Incidentally it is incorrect and extremely misleading to say that "it's just too far away to get signals from the satellites."
The distance from Brighton, East Sussex to Buffalo, NY is approximately 5 800 km, but the distance from Brighton, East Sussex to Astra 2 satellite cluster is of the order of 36 000 km, which as you can see is over six times the distance.
The reason that US TV stations cannot generally be received in Europe by satellite is because the satellites which transmit them are too low in the sky, below the horizon, and even if they were visible, their beams are directed at the Americas and not Europe. Also the majority of Ku band tranmsissions are encrypted and only available with a receiver and paid up subscription.
And for those that are prepared to pay money to Rupert Murdoch, there is always PBS UK on the $ky EPG.
