John P: & nobody:

John, as nobody says, you might get CBeebies, but during the day the LCN is normally populated with a data stream and I'm afraid I haven't a clue how you card handles them but I guess nobody may know ;)
My only experience with a "box" that didn't handle such streams was that is ignored/failed to find the LCN. (IIRC I had to do an "add" channels when it was broadcasting - that method doesn't work/not available on all devices).

Vince Bufton:

Steven may have misunderstood that you have posted on the DAB radio page for RidgeHill and if that is what you are referring to, then his comments aren't technically applicable.

Reception can be frequently disrupted periodically by propagation (weather) conditions. I'm afraid there is going to be some of this (tropospheric ducting) over the next few days which could cause interference/loss of signal.

Frank:

it sounds like you might not have quite a strong enough FM signal, and/or your receiver is getting old and is giving more background noise.
One of the primary differences between DAB and FM is that DAB doesn't give the same dynamic range (on sound level) as FM which is why purists prefer FM but you do need a good signal and kit ;)

Yes, just a "wee" problem, I'm waiting to see if Arqiva own up when I ask some "probing" questions ;)

Which channels are you missing? Also is the aerial rods (or x's) vertical or horizontal? And which way is it pointing (roughly) ie. N or SW or whatever?

If you look at the predicted reception for your postcode at Digital UK - Coverage checker and then hover your mouse over each UHF channel number, it will provide details.

StevensOnln1:

I thought the way I responded basically addressed that point! And my comments about reception apply to TV or Radio.

If it's TV then if he puts his postcode into Digital UK - Coverage checker it'll say what transmitters he can receive and the predicted reception. As you say without a postcode, can't provide more specific advice and clarification is needed. btw I can't find trace of any transmitter at a location of Whitcliff(e)!

Mike:

The link to the Digitaluk checker was provided in MikeP's previous post but here it is again
Digital UK - Coverage checker

The site owner did not "change the correct listing to non-existent channels". On many of the transmitter pages rather than showing current usage, the listings are inadvertently showing the final channels after completion of the 700Mhz clearance and I'm afraid not all of those are accurate. This is due to some bugs in the scripts that collect the data and try to update pages and the site owner has not had the time to correct all the information, there are over a 1000 transmitters & relays around the UK.

That is why we always tell people to put their postcode into the Digitaluk checker to get the latest information about predicted reception at their location and any changes and retuning events. This information has been repeated many times on various transmitter pages on this site.

Barry:

Pendle Forest is a relay of Winter Hill where there is engineering work this week, so I guess that there may be possible service interruptions. Are you still having no signal?
There is also the possibility that current weather conditions which are affecting radio tropospheric propagation may cause interference and so affect people's reception.
