Richard Holloway:

Channels that have been put in the 800s are generally channels from another transmitter than your usual main one and this could be the reason those have poor signal.
So what channels are there that should be in the regular places such as 236, 235, 73, 82 for the channels you mention? Also note that all those channels are on the ArqB/COM6 multiplex.

The other possibility is that as there have been a number of "minor" channels changes today including some on the ArqB multiplex, and the way your set has done its "retune" may be the cause of the current channel list. You haven't said which main transmitter you recieve or given a full postcode so we could check that, but if the transmitter is having Planned Engineering (many are) and the signal for ArqB was weaker at the time, this may also be a contributory factor.

To be perfectly honest, "automatic" updates can frequently be more trouble that they are worth resulting in problems like this in the wrong combinatio9n of circumstances. If you can find it in your Tuning section settings, turn it Off and stick to user initiated automatic retunes or manual retunes which aren't often needed.
Your best bet at this point would be to unplug the aerial and do a full automatic retune which should clear all existing tuning as no channels should be found. Then plug the aerial back in and repeat the automatic retune which will hopefully restore all the channels correctly.

If that hasn't restored channels correctly, post back with your full postcode and mention which channels are missing or ;listed in the 800s etc.

It seems Steve and I were compiling replies at the same time. Whilst I note that you have posted on the Wrekin transmitter page, quite a few people do post in the wrong pages, so I don't take it as gospel that it is your main transmitter without a full postcode.

Nigel Haigh:

There are many transmitters having Planned or Essential Engineering and Arqiva never give the details about the work or how long it may last.
It is unusual for any transmitter (which we assume may be a relay rather than a main transmitter) to go off for such lengthy periods in daytime, but it does happen occasionally.

Is it all channels going off, or just some? Eg. just ITV/C4/C5 etc or just BBC channels.
I hope you are not trying to retune when the signal goes off and it says "No signal" - you cannot tune to signals that aren't there, it will usually just clear your correct tuning.

I can't find any current warning from the BBC about such lengthy interruptions for any transmitter but I'm afraid without the specific transmitter name or your full postcode to check which transmitter you may receive, we can't look to see if any further information may be available.

Ron KILLICK:

Both Really and Dave (17 & 19) are carried on the ArqA/COM5 multiplex. If I've understood correctly, all the other channels on ArqA are OK, so 11 Sky Mix, 31 E4 Extra, 36 Sky Arts, 40 Quest Red, 43 Food Network, and many others do not have the same issue.
For which TV channels are carried on which multiplex, see
Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview

Sandy Heath isn't currently listed for Planned Engineering, so on paper, everything should be operating as "normal".
Can you look in your TV Tuning Section for Signal Strength and Quality (or Error) % figures for the ArqA multiplex which is on UHF C36 from Sandy Heath?

Jacky:

If you provide a full postcode we can check your predicted reception and may be able to advise on ways to improve it or whether you may be suffering some sort of interference.

Steve Donaldson:

BBC Report says it was restored at 4.32pm

Steve Donaldson:

I'm not thinking so, as the BBC report stated it started at 0830, the same as Charles Hussey's comment.
I expect it will have taken a little while before it was realised to be power failure and reported to SSEN.

Carol:

Hi Carol. That sounds like a great job that the Restore TV engineer has done for you. SQs of 100 is just what you should have and SLs in the 90s is just right.

Most people won't have heard of Restore TV unless they've had a postcode from them which is when mobile interference is most likely, but we are coming across a good number of people that should have had a postcard and haven't (according to their own database!). Yours wasn't one, but we are also find a few that should have been and a filter has resolved the problem. At least you are future proofed.

Good luck and thanks for coming back and giving us a full update.

Al Jazeera HD

Bruce Dale:

Hi Bruce.
Al Jazeera English is still broadcast on LCN235, it's on the ArqB/COM6 multiplex which also carries GBNews on LCN236 so if this a reception problem, that should be missing as well as also a number of other channels carried on that multiplex.
The streaming version on LCN267 is carried on the SDN multiplex as is LCN268 so this sounds a bit like a possible combination of reception and tuning.

If you provide a full postcode, we can check your predicted reception, and whether the transmitter you normally get has any engineering whether Planned or Faults and also check for possible interference.

In the meantime if there are other channels that you've noticed problems with, eg. bad pixellation or no signal, please let us know which ones.
