Barbara Magraw:

It's always possible your TV tuner is not as sensitive as your YouView box so in case there are any connection or signal problems check all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc. (try swapping them around if you have more than one), unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. If you can see what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in the tuning section, this might indicate potential issues with your aerial or downlead. Also check that your downlead looks undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.
Problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.

Having done that, unplug the aerial from the TV and do an automatic retune. This should clear memory of all previous tuning as no channels will be found. Plug the aerial back in and repeat the tuning process.
Hopefully this will restore all your channels. If you still have problems, we need a full postcode to see what predicted reception is like at your location.

It occurred to be after posting that although TBN moving to PSB3 with transmissions which reach a greater part of the country, how many people who watch might have HD tuners? They may end up with a bit of blaspheming and smaller coverage !

Oh and as usual Freeview not giving any detail in their status update, like clarify that TBN moves to PSB3 and Yaaas listing will be on SDN, just the same as the lack of detail when Film 4+1, E4+1 etc moved.
And Channel listings | Freeview has not been updated with the changes at time of posting! Me thinks they need a swift kick up the ....

Mr A.Squires:

Sometimes predicted reception can be quite variable when you live in an area that has overlapping coverage from more than one transmitter particularly if you are on the periphery of these areas. It looks as though you could have line of sight to several transmitters depending on your precise location within your postcode. It can be especially tricky if the location has local obstructions or is a bit hilly which could be the case with you.

The official Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker does show such variations across your postcode, but mainly good reception from most of the main 6 multiplexes and also the COMs 7&8 multiplexes depending on your precise location. Similar results are obtained from the BBC's RTIS predictions. Both show good or variable reception results from Hannington and Crystal Palace and again they change with precise location.

This means that good aerial location will be very important as will the choice of aerial needing sufficient gain and appropriate beamwidth/polar response. Local weather conditions can also have significant effects on loft mounted aerials, as can the presence of water tanks, walls & etc.
When more transmitters share frequency (UHF channel) usage around the country as is more the case now, changes to reception can occur in some weather situations and when transmitters might be undergoing planned maintenance or have faults. It is also important that your own installation is free of faults.

One thing you can do is check all your coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. Flyleads are a common problem, try swapping/changing them. See what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section. Also check that your downlead looks undamaged (especially if it is old) and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.
Problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.

If you have frequent problems with specific channels check Channel listings | Freeview to see which multiplex they are on, as reception of some multiplexes can be variable in a particular location.

Mr A.Squires:

I should have added that for Hannington your aerial should be pointing at a bearing of 250 degrees - that's marginally West of WSW and the rods should be horizontal. The precise direction may vary by a few degrees for best signal strength depending on aerial location.

Well I gave them a toe up the ...... yesterday, when I have a moment, along with a few other issues, they'll get a hefty boot up the ..... next week!
All the broadcasters are "pushy" with their players/catch-up. I have to admit I do use them, Watch from start with iPlayer I find quite handy, but them I'm quite lucky I get 80Mb/s FTTC (was + w/e calls, now 500 mins anytime) for the same price I paid for 6.5Mb/s ADSL 4 years ago! Bit of a no-brainer really. What does annoy me though, is going to a broadcaster's website to get more info about a programme and you have to negotiate through often several pages related to iPlayer or Hub or whatever, struggling to find the right link, before you find a piddly amount of information about the programme! grrr!

Shaun:

The Angus transmitter has had Planned Engineering this week with "Possible service interruptions". It's usually not a good idea to retune when you have no signal, you just lose the correctly tuned channels.
As you are close to the transmitter and not had previous problems with your indoor aerial, then if you now seem to have all your channels, signals may continue to vary for as long as the engineering continues.
If you are missing channels, when the signals look good on the multiplexes that you do have, unplug the aerial and do an automatic retune to clear memory of previous tuning, plug the aerial back in and do the retune again.
From recent experience, in practice, "Possible service interruptions" seems to include "weak signal" as well.

Richard Fielden:

Although I can't advise what your predicted reception might be without a full postcode, you are well within the coverage area for Hannington. Even though the COM multiplexes are half the power of the PSBs, you should have no trouble receiving them. As you've discovered things like splitters etc. should also be checked. Flyleads are also a common problem. Always try swapping ports on splitters etc. and swap flyleads about to try and eliminate things and narrow the source of the problems.

As StevensOnln1 says, see his reply to your other post. When you reply there, apart from the full postcode he's requested, it will also be helpful if you could say what direction your aerial is pointing in, using compass points as accurately as you can ie. is it pointing eg. say SW or more S of SW, or say N of NW, or say slightly W of S, etc. etc.
