The signal from waltham has changed today and has got a lot stronger
In sheffield (im an Aerial installer in sheffield based in Beighton)
the angle of reception from the two transmitters is very close so it is wholly possible that you can now receive both transmitters quite easily
an interesting fact of this is that (id need to know exactly where you live ) is that you could possibly now have an aerial installed pointing at the sheffield transmitter and get the correct local Look South news (ie SHeffield based news) and totally forget about Belmont (east coast news) and Waltham (central News) also you wouldn't be susceptible to the problem that occurs occasionally where the signal is wiped out on sunny days when there is no wind - an aerial pointing towards Belmont in sheffield points across the continent and occasionally on certain days the signal from the continent travels through to us and wipes Belmont out
As sheffield is a Local transmitter that problem would be a thing of the past so there are several good reasons for ditching Belmont and Waltham if you live in and around sheffield and using the local transmitters

OMG Brincliffe edge what a total nightmare trees blocking Sheffield too low down for belmont and waltham no chance of Emley moor - possible Totley Rise with 4 analogue channels
Trees also blocking satellite reception
Told a few people there my self if they want tv to put a FOR SALE sign outside !

peculiar - I would have suspected that the tv has a more sensitive tuner than the hitachi PVr - but now the signals have been lifted considerably then it might be due to too much signal strength its one of these strange situation !
Its soo difficult to answer without putting an analyser on the aerial to see the signal strengths
Before switch over did you receive a decent digital reception ?
if not - how would you have rated your analogue picture was it grainy or pin sharp - if it was grainy then its possible that your aerial needs attention

you say there is no sign of the HD channels can I ask is your equipment HD READY or definatley has a HD tuner built in as in my experience there is a very limited number of people who have the equipment to decode HD
On the other hand a HIGH percentage of people have equipment that is HD ready and they think it will automatically give them High Def
Sorry if this is teaching granny to suck eggs but I have to ask

Sounds like you may have now got to much signal hitting your equipment
Have you got an amplifier connected on the system - possibly you don't need it now - but before you go ripping it out is it a set back one or one that distributes to several sets
If its a set back one (do not remove a box that states POWER SUPPLY that may (or may not) sit behind your tv as you will lose everything) then try bypassing it and connecting the aerial direct to your tv
if its an amplifier in the loft or outdoors then thats going to be tougher to do
if you cant get to your amp try using whats called an ATTENUATOR these reduce the signal strength - ideally placing one before your amplifier is the best route but if you cant then plug it direct into the back of the tv theyre about £6 from maplin electronics - try a 12db attenuator - possibly an 18db? (buy both ask if you can return the unused one)
If you have no amplifier - still try the attenuator as the signal has increased phenomenally place the attenuator on the first piece of equipment it connects too ie if you have a pvr the aerial usually goes in there and is looped round to your tv

I had to ask as ive had dozens of people expect the new HD signal which we have had off Emley moor from about april last year (sure someone will correct me with the exact date :-) )
So ive had 16 months of - "but we thought we would get High def pictures"
Then explaining the TV is HD ready and doesn't actually have an HD tuner !

I am so glad that LNA got you stumped as I was going to ask the same question but didn't want to sound thick by not knowing-- I have seen it on a few pieces of equipment but couldn't answer what it stood for!

HD channels should be from 50 upwards
Yes Waltham has had a power increase - judging by the signal strength increases on Belmont Sheffield and chesterfield (area I work in ) the signals are PHENOMENALLY stronger
Im seeing signals where I would never anticipate receiving for instance I can now get a signal with an aerial stood on the ground where previously 15' to 20' masts were needed
