Today, since the Waltham trasmission has been turned off we also have no channel 5 on one of our tv's. We suspect that the power has been reduced and wondered when it will be increased.

I've heard a rumour that sdn mux is still at low power and 16QAM (2k) and won't increase until october, it got me thinking because all the other muxes have increased to 80-90 percent signal strength (on my pc signal meter) but sdn stays around 30-40 percent. Can. Anyone confirm?

Our aerial points at Belmont here in Sheffield, and just noticed that we are picking up all the channels from Waltham as well.
Quite impressive.

obsidian eclipse: It's not a "rumour", it's listed above: "Muliplex A (SDN) will move from C26 to C29 (at 8kW) in advance of switchover during March 2011, and will adopt its final power level on 12th October 2011."

W.M. Wild: The power for Multiplex A has not changed, but it will increase on 12th October 2011.

The signal from waltham has changed today and has got a lot stronger
In sheffield (im an Aerial installer in sheffield based in Beighton)
the angle of reception from the two transmitters is very close so it is wholly possible that you can now receive both transmitters quite easily
an interesting fact of this is that (id need to know exactly where you live ) is that you could possibly now have an aerial installed pointing at the sheffield transmitter and get the correct local Look South news (ie SHeffield based news) and totally forget about Belmont (east coast news) and Waltham (central News) also you wouldn't be susceptible to the problem that occurs occasionally where the signal is wiped out on sunny days when there is no wind - an aerial pointing towards Belmont in sheffield points across the continent and occasionally on certain days the signal from the continent travels through to us and wipes Belmont out
As sheffield is a Local transmitter that problem would be a thing of the past so there are several good reasons for ditching Belmont and Waltham if you live in and around sheffield and using the local transmitters

Thanks Keith,
I live in an area of S11 where aerial installers would arrive and just say "no chance mate". Something to do with Brincliffe Edge apparently.
We swung our aerial round to Belmont about 3 years ago, and anticipated swinging it back to Crosspool after switchover.
But today we are embarrassed by the riches of picking up the channels from Belmont, Waltham AND Sheffield. Time will tell if we need to point it at Crosspool later, but at the moment feeling quite chuffed after many years in that white pixel area on the map surrounded by yellow.

My Hitachi PVR freeview receiver is not seeing ch4 and other channels on C54. When I manually scan on c54 it does not get a signal at all and yet the same aerial lead passes through this freeview pvr unit and onto the television which is seeing ch4 etc. Could this be something to do with the actual frequency ch4 etc are transmitted on - I notice it is registered at C54- and I have no means on the hitachi unit to see what frequency '54' is searching under.

OMG Brincliffe edge what a total nightmare trees blocking Sheffield too low down for belmont and waltham no chance of Emley moor - possible Totley Rise with 4 analogue channels
Trees also blocking satellite reception
Told a few people there my self if they want tv to put a FOR SALE sign outside !
