It is likely to be due to the high pressure currently over parts of the UK. There is nothing anyone can do but be patient. Do NOT retune your equipment.

Steve:
It's still being transmitted! You may be being affected by the tropospheric ducting phenomenon affecting may [parts of the UK at present. Do NOT retune your equipment.

Debby:
I'm afraid that you should not have retuned your equipment as you will have lost some of the channels you still would have had. The problem is likely due to atmospherics affect signal transmission, it has been affecting many areas in the west, south and central areas of the UK.
You best solution now is to wait until the weather pattern changes and the high pressure moves away from the UK. It is predicted that this natural phenomenon may be clearing from about Thursday - hopefully. (It is affecting my reception at present as well so I have not retuned.)

J Knights:
It is not an issue with signal strength or quality from the transmitter but a perfectly natural and well known atmospheric phenomenon that no one can change. Your best solution is patience. The high pressure that gives rise to this tropospheric disturbance is predicted to move away from around Thursday so everything should come back to normal after then - unless you have tried to retune your equipment. If you have done that, wait until at least Thursday before retuning again to recover the lost channels.

Steve Humphreys:
Storeton does not transmit COM7 nor COM8 which are the main HD sources in most cases, but it does transmit the BBC C HD service so that limits the HD channels available if you are using a full HD set.
As you are so close to the Storeton transmitter you do not need any signal amplification, that may actually be causing some problems due to too strong a signal being fed to the tuner.
However, you would be far better to use Winter Hill, as indicated by the entries in the 'digitaluk trade' information accessed by clicking on the so named blue box under your posting. You would need a different aerial installed, Winter Hill is Group C/D whereas Storeton is Group A and that aerial will not work well for Winter Hill signals. Alternatively, use a log-periodic (Group W) aerial that will be suitable for use well into the future. The new aerial should be mounted with the small rod horizontal and aimed at 49 degrees (towards the Winter Hill transmitter).

To be able to help with this type of query we need a full post code so we can examine the reception conditions and possibilities at your precise location. Only when that has been provided can we possibly offer any advice as there are over 1,000 transmitters currently.

To offer any meaningful assistance we need to know exactly where you are in relation to possible transmitters. To do that we need you to give your full post code.

It will be interesting to find out what channels the multiplexes will be transmitted on when they are moved/combined. Some viewers will hardly notice any change but others will need a full retune and some a new aerial if they do not have a wideband or log-periodic in place before the change. I already use a Log-45 on Mendip so should only need to do the retune come first half of 2019, if the plan outlined above is adhered to.
I will not notice any change of mobile reception, I don't use a 'smartphone' and so don't have any usage of 3G, 4G nor 5G - just poor reception locally.

At your location, south of York, you should get excellent reception from the Emley Moor transmitter that is only 47 km away on a bearing of 237 degrees (that is roughly south west from location).
Are you using a good aerial that is suitable for Group B signals and has its small rods horizontal? Have you tuned to the correct channels for Emley Moor? They are shown listed in the information given by the 'digitaluk trade' blue box just below your posting. (It is possible that your TV has tuned to either Bilsdale or Belmont as it would 'see' their signals first and could be confused! You may need to manually tune following the User Manual to avoid that problem.) Have you checked all the connections are good and the cables in good condition?
Hope that helps?

Ian, Mrs Flury, Tony, et al:
Please do not retune your equipment, you will be likely to lose what channels you can get!
The problem is probab;y due to atmospheric conditions that are common when high pressure is present and entirely natural. There is nothing that can be done about the effect and it is not a new phenomenon, so 'global warming' has no bearing on it either.
Just be patient as the predictions are that it may well cease to be a problem from around next Thursday.
