Ami:

The Mendip transmitter that you use has some work done on 27th February to prepare it for a further allocation of channels due in June 2018. You should have done the retune immediately after 27th February but not since. All you have now achieved is total loss of all channels!

Start checking all the aerial connections you can safely reach. Unplug each coaxial plug/socket and then refit. Then try Logical Channel 1 (BBC1) and manually tune it to Channel 49 for PSB1 (698.00 MHz) multiplex which carries BBC1 services. If you now get BBC1, try a full retune and check that you are getting all the logical channels and then check you can get all the programme channels.

Maureen Over:

There is transmitter engineering work being done currently on your transmitter and they do not say when it will be finished, though it is usually just a few hours. DO NOT RETUNE until AFTER the work has been completed. Your TV should tell you when to do that.

Your post is not worthy of any comment, your assumptions are wrong.

Robert:

I DID disprove your claims when I stated that LED and L|CD screens do not emit X-Rays or Gamma-rays. They are the forms of ionising emissions that are known potential causes of cancer.

So accept that you are completely wrong and cease your ranting.

This website is meant to be used for helping people having reception problems and your postings are completely off-topic.

Tim Hote:

To get any meaningful response or help you need to provide a full post code so that we and others can see what transmitter you are using and what the reception conditions are like. In some areas, the change of channels used for COMs 7 & 8 require a change of aerial, but that depends on where you are.

RDP:

Without a full post code we cannot tell what the reception conditions are like at your location.

However, a signal strength of 99% is far too strong. The ideal is between 60% and 85% and an attenuator could help by reducing the excessive signal strength.

Barry Sharples:

It could be that your aerial is unable to receive channels 55 and 56. If it is a Group A type, that will not be any use for those channels.

Freeview have some advice about getting your aerial changed (if you do not have Satellite or cable) and you should ask them.

Adrian Pinsent:

Further to that said by StevensOnln1, I can confirm that COM5 is transmitting as normal from Mendip, we use Mendip as our main transmitter.

So please provide the requested full post code.

Nev:

Fenton transmits the main channels in Group A but COMs 6 and 7 are on channels 55 and 56, which cannot be received successfully with a Group A aerial.

You need to replace your aerial with a wide band type that is capable of receiving the higher channels. Contact Freeview for assistance as you may qualify for a free replacement aerial.

L M Price:

You don't say where you aerial is aimed, what polarity it is set to nor what Group it is.

You are just 3 km from the Leamington Spa transmitter, which is a Freeview Light transmitter and only broadcasts the BBCA, BBCB HD and D3&4 multiplexes. It needs a Group B aerial mounted with the small cross rods vertical rather than horizontal. It is at a bearing of 40 degrees. There are expected to be further changes later this year that will make reception from Leamington Spa more problematic so would not be recommended.

Sutton Coldfield is 41 km away on a bearing of 332 degrees - but it needs the aerial to be set for horizontal reception (with the small rods horizontal rather than vertical). It is also a Group B Full Service transmitter. A Group T or a wide band aerial is recommended.
