Anthony Page:

As has been said repeatedly here, you need a wideband aerial now. If you do not already have one, you need to get one fitted, talk to the Freeview Assistance on 0808 100 0288. You also need to check that all the aerial connections are good and free from any corrosion on the contacts within the plug/socket.

Simon Brice:

Check all the connections between the aerial and TV. Also check that the signal b eing received is not too strong, it must not be greater that 85% as most tuners cannot tolerate anything more. Search for 'too much of a good thing' on this website for some suggestions.

Indoor aerials | Installing

A Stewart:

You need an external aerial fitted so that it can receive good signals and feed them into your Summer House. Indoor aerials are only of any possible use close to the main transmitter.

Ade Langford :

Part of the work done recently at Oxford has moved some services, such as COMs 7 & 8 which carry several HD channels, to higher transmission channels and a Wideband aerial is now recommended. Ideally, that should be mounted as high as possible to 'look over' nearby houses, etc.

Chris:

You need to put your full post code into this website so that we can see where you are in relation to one of the over 1100 transmitters and what the predicted reception is like.

Tony Whyman:

Then you need to get a local aerial contractor in to look at your aerial system. They will have local knowledge that is not available to us contributors who are remote from your location (I'm in West Wiltshire).

Steven Szulechi:

Try putting yopur full post code into the coverage checker page at Digital UK - Coverage checker This is the Digital UK service.

Note that transmitter power output does not change at all - unless a significant fault occurs within the transmitter equipment.

Paul:

What is the problem you are trying to resolve?

With satellite systems, the size of the dish makes a significant difference. The correct aiming/alignment of the dish is also crucial. The type of cable used between LNB and receiver also makes a difference, some cables having greater losses than others.

Bill McDonald:

Yeovil is quiote well served from Mendip, a cousin lives in West Coker Road and gets excellent reception. So perhaps there is a fault in yopur aerial system. Check all the connections between the aerial and your TV, unplugging and refitting any plug/socket connections. Also check for any damage to the cables that might let water enter when it rains. Then check that your aerial is still correctly positioned and aimed at the transmitter properly. If unsure use the Digital UK service at Digital UK - Coverage checker and enter your full post code. That will tell you the correct compass direction and also the correct channels to tune to.
