r hughes: Should your Triax box not have auto FEC detection facility then it should set on 2/3.

jeff: You should carry out another retune on your box and check if BBC1 & 2 Wales have been restored, the programmes in question being broadcast from the Astra 1N satellite on 10.788Ghz (V) - 22K - 5/6.

HD versions of both (Astra 2F) being on 11.023Ghz (H) - 23K - 2/3 DVB-S2.

dave bambrough: If you are using a twin tuner Freesat PVR or Sky+ box then try swapping the two LNB inputs over and check if the quality returns.

If though you are only using a single input receiver then unplug it from the mains for 30 seconds or so before reconnecting it again and checking the results once that the programmes channels have loaded back in again.

Should it still the same then your problem might possibly be caused by water having entered the LNB's "F" connector, and so this should be unscrewed from the LNB (by only turning the gland nut) then further unscrewed from the coax for checking, once done having ensured that all strands of the braiding have been pulled back over the cables outer cover before screwing the connector back onto the coax.

You could of course bypass having to carry out those checks should you be friendly with anyone who would allow you to test your box out on their dish system, because boxes do go faulty.

Anthony ELSTON: I have already replied to your question @ 7.40am this morning as seen by opening the link.

dave bambrough: I replied to your posting made earlier on @ 7.43pm under a "satellite heading" and where you had referred to a "no default transponder" message being seen, can it be taken that this latest 8.31pm posting is referring to a separate Freeview device that you also possess?

If though it is, then are you connected into a communal dish / aerial distribution system?

dave bambrough: Thanks for the update on the situation, however as nothing is seen listed on the engineering notice board with regards to any problem existing with Bellingham or even the Pontop Pike transmitters, then rather than searching about for a fault that "might" not exist it would be advisable to make a check with a neighbour or whoever to determine if the problem is only confined to your own installation, or maybe not as the case may be!

If it is, then are you using any form of booster? because if you are then try bypassing it by connecting the aerial straight into the TV.

dave bambrough: Thanks for the update and pleased to see you have managed to rectify your satellite reception problem, dish alignment generally being the last thing I mention until all other avenues have been checked, this simply being due to the fact that most people are unable to carry out any form of remedial action where it involves adjustments having to be made to the dish, but though with yourself obviously being an exception to this rule!!

Have you taken any further action with regards to your Freeview problem?

TOM BECKETT: Judging by what you have said is an indication that your box does require a retune as witnessed by the fact of (61) True Entertainment not appearing on your programme guide, this programme being on the same multiplex as ITV3 etc as well as the new Drama channel (20).

As Dave Lindsay has mentioned the Doncaster area is capable of receiving Freeview from either Belmont or Emley Moor, although the latter completely covers the area whereas the former overlaps it to a much lesser extent, but no matter where you receive your signal from the box requires a retune.

As far as the Big Deal is concerned, its channel was superseded around the turn of the year by Movie Mix and as such I have failed to see Big Deal being mentioned in any of the lists, unless that is because its sharing a channel with other programmes, and so if by any chance you can actually view Big Deal when you select 791? then maybe you could check its source by using the undermentioned procedure.

On a Humax box press "Menu" then run down to the bottom icon titled "System" and press on same, finally select (2) "Signal condition" and note the TX channel number indicated as well as the station being indicated, giving an update on the result.

TOM BECKETT: Thanks for your update, retuning on most (but not all) boxes usually rectifying programme guide number problems.

The only thing I am not quite sure about is what you are meaning by "getting the channels in numerical order"? because they should already be in that order when viewed in the programme guide, or for example are you maybe meaning such as ITV1+1 coming after ITV1, because should you be? then this is something that cannot be altered on most equipment and with the only way of achieving it being to enter them in that order into the favourites list.
