also carried out some checks on the aerials installed in your area and with this being done in a wide sweep, and although the imagery I was viewing them on may not necessarily be bang up to date practically all of the aerials seen in the area are vertically polarised and facing towards the Newhaven transmitter, the couple of horizontally mounted exceptions seen facing towards the Heathfield transmitter albeit that they were mounted on the same mast as their vertical counterparts, which of course could quite possibly indicate that the viewer does not necessarily enjoy good reception from Heathfield.

J Macfie: The Glen Urquhart transmitter (SD and HD) is listed as being off air from 13.18 today, no reason given, although judging by what you have said it might be due to a power supply failure.

heather brown: Although having posted your query earlier on today, should you still be experiencing the problem then you should check out your installation / aerial system as the Sandy transmitter is operating as normal.

DaveG: Pleased to see that the aforementioned procedure has resolved the problem and with both tuners now operating normally for a device using twin input feeds.
As far as the SW update / reset is concerned, yes, very possibly, as when those boxes were purchased as brand new it was sometimes necessary to select twin inputs as part of the set up procedure, whereas never if purchased from Humax Direct as a regraded model, which by the way are currently being sold by same @ £129.00 for a 500gB model, my intention being to purchase another as my 320gB version has given faultless service for around 4 years now and with it never at any time having been disconnected from the mains.
Of course the only problem they did suffer from was that of their remote control locking up whereby the box would not respond to commands, the cure being to remove one end of the battery, press any button to discharge the internal storage capacitor, then push the battery back home again.
The latter only mentioned in case you should also experience this problem at some point in time as many did!
By the way, when you updated the software what number is it showing as when checked in diagnostics?

Dave Parker: The answer to your question is basically no, as the offending channels from Belmont and Bilsdale are to a certain extent interwoven to that used by Emley Moor, and although one could possibly achieve an element of success using notch filters those devices have to be professionally installed to be effective, plus of course they are not cheap!
The other aspect being, that any attempts to use some form of screening on the aerial would be doomed to failure as this simply does not work, trough aerials being used for this purpose in professional fields.
The whole situation can be avoided at no cost whatsoever by manually tuning in each of the muxes required, problem being that some TV / boxes do not offer this facility.

jan: The nature of your complaint would suggest that your Freesat device is possibly faulty rather than that of your dish being out of alignment, which by the way you should refrain from making any attempts to reposition same as you are very unlikely to succeed.
Your best policy would be to try and and test your box out on another dish, this can either be one used for Sky or Freesat as technically they are both the same.
What make of Freesat device are you using?

Janet Rothwell: If you are connected into a communal dish system then you should make an enquiry with someone else in the apartment block as its possible that there's a fault in the distribution system rather than in your particular apartment.
Check you connection cables though!
By the way, is that your correct post code?

Andrew : To be perfectly honest about it I don't see anyone in your area being able to enjoy a stable signal level (especially quality) from either Crystal Palace or Hannington as the signal path from both transmitters is obstructed from approximately 6 to 8 miles prior to your location, this as seen by opening the attached terrain indications.
With regards to whether or not a booster would help the situation can be determined by carrying out a signal quality check on the following channels, 1-3-10-11-18 and any HD channel, because if the quality is seen to be reasonably stable then a booster would certainly help, however if its observed to be constantly diving up and down then it wouldn't as you cant compensate for poor quality.

michael derrick: Thanks for the location update, however this has unfortunately not really made any difference to the situation as far as reception from Heathfield is concerned as the obstruction previously referred to remains virtually unchanged.
That said, although its rather obvious that reception is still possible under conditions such as these as proven by yourself, its mostly of a nature that cannot be relied upon for consistency, plus the other factor of the summer / winter + night time / daytime effect frequently comes into the equation whereby the signal is liable to deteriorate due to changes in the surface of the terrain such as vegetation / reflective properties as well as reception occasionally being affected by cloud conditions, and although with the summer and winter effect its possible in some cases (but not all) to partially correct the situation by turning the aerial by a few degrees to either the left or right to regain peak signal strength, this type of action is not really a practicable proposition for most, plus of course it has no effect whatsoever on problems not being caused by the terrain.
