Al: Although as Briantist has mentioned a full post code is really required for accuracy, but as you suspect that Mux Ch31 from Sandy is causing you problems (which is most likely) and its on low power, then you should try a manual scan on Mux Ch21 which is Sandy's high powered HD channel.

If you still have HD channels in your EPG then its maybe best to first of all carry out a scan without the aerial connected to blank out the stored channels, then manually tune in Sandy's Mux Ch21, if you get results then you can use "add channels" or "find other channels" (whatever your set calls it) to load the remainder in.

casamax: Challenge TV, as well as Pick TV, Dave, E4+1 etc, etc are on the considerably lower powered Mux Ch53 until the 23rd of November, and so you may not receive it very well depending on your aerial set up, that is even although the predictor does indicate that you should receive it.

You could try manually tuning it in on Mux Ch53, I would normally advise to first of all blank out anything stored in the EPG, but your local Grimsby transmitter doesn't transmit anything other than PSB channels and so no EPG number 46 should be indicated.

This all said taking it that you are using Belmont?

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

David Timm: An easy way to get over the problem is to first of all remove the aerial and carry out a re-scan without it, this for purposes of blanking out anything stored, then BEFORE re-connecting the the aerial carry out another re-tune whilst at the same time watching the channels rise in the progress bar, and when you see them passing Ch35 re-connect the aerial and that will allow BBC1 etc, etc, to load from Emley Moor.

Should you still have a problem after doing this then you might have to manually tune the channels required.

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Bob: By being only 7 miles away from Emley you could be receiving a signal thats a little too strong for your particular TV or box being used, and although you havent mentioned as such, but if you have any form of booster fitted this should be removed other wise you might require an attenuator in line with the aerial socket. (these about £4.00 or so)

However you should first ensure that you are actually using a device with a DVB-T2 tuner, this being necessary for Freeview HD reception, so have look at the technical spec / tuner in the manual for whatever you are using.

PS: HD ready devices cannot receive HD transmissions.

Stuart O: In answer to your latter question, most definitely NO!

Derek: Basically yes! as you would just couple the Virgin boxes scart output into your VCR's set top box scart input, selecting this input on the VCR, then the VCR's RF modulator would output this scart input as though it was anything else.

Paul: If you havent already done so, you should carry out a factory reset on the box, or alternatively make a complete scan without the aerial being connected to blank out the EPG memory, then carry out a second scan after re-connecting.

d turner: You should check the channel number associated with the signal strength on ITV1 etc to make sure that your aren't picking up an alternative station.

You are indicated as being (in theory) being able to receive from more than one station, and if its Tacolneston then the match is BBC1 Mux Ch63 / ITV1 Mux Ch60, or if Sudbury BBC1 Mux Ch44 / ITV1 Mux Ch41.

If you find an incorrect match then you may have to use manual tuning to correct this after having first of all blanked out the EPG memory by scanning without the aerial being connected, then manually entering the channel required, once completed use the "add channels" or "find other channels" to load the remainder.

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

paul: Could you clarify which station your parents normally received their signal from? as if its Belmont then you will have to tune this in manually as Belmont and Bilsdale BBC1 are only one channel apart.

On the other hand if its Emley they require then there is a procedure to use that will cut out the other two stations mentioned being picked up.

But please clarify on the first point.

HUGH SMITH: Pontypool HD is on Mux Ch29, but as you say reception from there is in the 800 ranges then you must also be picking up signals from some other station, and which has taken up the normal EPG channel positions.

Take the aerial out and carry out a scan without it, this blanking out whats stored, then re-connect the aerial again and carry out a further re-scan to see what comes up.

Further info supplied depending on results.
