The symbol shows the location of the Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter which serves 1,550,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) mast?

yeah thats right robert, its the bilsdale transmitter that they get signal from. will it be the aerial pointing the wrong way to get the signal from emley moor? like i said we re-tuned the box but they still cant pick up the local news stations.

paul: Could you clarify which station your parents normally received their signal from? as if its Belmont then you will have to tune this in manually as Belmont and Bilsdale BBC1 are only one channel apart.

On the other hand if its Emley they require then there is a procedure to use that will cut out the other two stations mentioned being picked up.

But please clarify on the first point.

paul: To tune Belmont in manually take the aerial out and carry out a scan without it, this will blank out anything stored, then reconnect the aerial and go into the tuning menu selecting "manual tune", entering Mux Ch22 (BBC1) and select searching, storing channels found, then in the same menu enter Mux Ch25 (ITV1), searching and storing as before.

Depending on the menu of whatever TV or box is being used you can then select "search for other channels" to add the remaining four multiplexes, "if" the device has that facility, otherwise you will have to load the rest manually using exactly the same procedure every time.

Channels being : Mux Ch28 (only for HD) - Mux Ch30 (ITV3 etc) - Mux Ch53 - MuxCh60, note though the latter two multiplexes are on much lower power until the 23rd of November, so you may not receive them very well.

Paul: Do what I had mentioned re: Belmont as regards to taking the aerial out and scanning without it to blank the stored channels out, but BEFORE reconnecting the aerial again carry out a re-scan "whilst at the same time" observing the channels rising in the progress bar, then as soon as you see it passing Ch38 immediately re-connect the aerial and that will allow Emley to load.

Any problems with the result may require manual tuning, but you can give an update as necessary.

Sorry i,ve been a little dormant over the last day or two, having conducted many wee (little/small) experiments during the DSO2 stage at Emley Moor,i can safely say that at present both SDN multiplexes at both Emley Moor (fr ch 51) and Belmont (fr ch 30) will not duplicate themselves together on my set-top box, just one or the other seperately will be stored, that being the first stored as such.Experiment 1,having deleted all programme channels,i manually scanned Emley Moor's SDN mux first on fr 51,it was stored. Then i manually scanned Belmont's SDN mux secondly on fr 30,it did not store. So i deleted all channels again and commenced with Experiment 2,this time performing a manual scan first for Belmont's SDN mux on fr 30,guess what it was stored. Then secondly i manually scanned Emley Moor's SDN mux on fr 51,guess what it did not store,so after this experiment was concluded i deleted all channels once again, and decided on a change.I manually scanned and stored Belmont's mux's BBCA (fr 22),D3+4 (fr 25),SDN (fr 30),as well as manually scanning and storing Emley Moor's mux's ArqB (fr 48),ArqA (fr 52).(My set-top box is non-HD so no BBCB on either fr 28 Belmont,or on fr 41 Emley Moor.)So at present my programme channels on my set-top box comprises of both Belmont and Emley Moor allocations,as my set-top indoor aerial (without amplifier/signal booster) is directed more or less in the line of Belmont only slighly more to the left than the direct line towards Emley Moor.I do not watch very much of local news bulletins from Emley Moor myself as i prefer the local news bulletins at present from Belmont, more of an East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire slant on things, yes Peter Levy from BBC Hull studio, and also the slight variation on ITV 1 Calendar, more East Yorks/Lincs matters and come commercial breaks occasionally more in the way of East Yorks/Lincs business and attractions advertising. Finally come Wednesday 23 November 2011 when Tacolneston goes all digital will be the moment of truth when Belmont's currently 2 under strength mux's,ArqA (fr 53),ArqB (fr 60) will have its power increased considerably soon after, for there is the possibility that i may end up picking up one or even both these frequencies as such.Watch this space.

Mark Fletcher: Just a little query, what box are you using to carry out these tests on? the only reason I ask being, that when auto- tuning on most boxes in situations where two stations can be received at the one time, if the box experiences a second multiplex with the same status of one already stored, then it usually stores it up in the 800 ranges of channels and doesnt reject it.

In other words are you using a box with a regional scanning selecting facility?
