Daniel Badman,Hastings.Look up the ATV Sheffield website, you will find the best one to choose is satellite grade copper-copper black (preferably) coloured co-ax cable and importantly brass co-ax plugs.

Not long to go now folks,i predict the BBC2 analogue signal will be switched off around 0005 hours (12.05am) on Wed 8 Feb 2012,straight after the first of two Rubicon episodes has finished transmission, plus the lower powered pre-digital Mux1 multiplex also will be switched off too almost immediately soon afterwards.Viewers wanting to watch the second following episode of Rubicon will be disappointed as they will have to miss most of that programme to enable the DSO1 process to complete itself.

Brian Davies.A group A external aerial will have a red tip at the end,a group B external aerial will be coloured yellow at its tip.As you have not given a full postcode or nearby location as such we cannot be of much valuable assistanc to yourself. However you mentioned you are unable to receive any digital channels but only the analogue ones with yer indoor aerial + amplifier. This is in some locations unsatisfactory such as in your case and if i was you i would purchase an external group B Yagi 18B antenna for your location but you must be quick, come Wednesday 22 February 2012 in the early hours the rest of Hannington's remaining four analogue channels BBC1,ITV1,Channel 4 and Channel 5 will be forever switched off.

Bluebell Hill (Medway, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Jeremy,Maidstone. The world is your oyster. If you want to remain with Crystal Palace then yes you will most certainly need a new external aerial,a group A Yagi 18A or X-Beam XB16A as such, however if you decide to use Bluebell Hill instead then you can use either a group B,group E or a group W wideband aerial. However dont buy a group W wideband aerial for Crystal Palace itself if you remain with this transmitter,as being an all group A mast you will find that group W wideband antennas have a poor performance on all the channels in the group A band in a poor signal/marginal signal area within that particular transmitter itself. One final option you may consider diplexing your aerials using group A Yagi or X-Beam aerial for Crystal Palace and either a separate group B,group E (recommended) or even a group W wideband aerial for Bluebell Hill itself.Look up the ATV Aerials and Televisions of Sheffield website on new aerials,co-ax cables,co-ax plugs and diplexers,i am sure they will be of very valuable assistance to you and believe me they are IMHO the best aerial retailers in the business in the UK today.

Jeremy.Sorry for not responding back to you quickly enough due to work committments, but let me say it has been a pleasure in assisting you of course not just me but Dave Lindsay himself too who just beat me into responding to you while i composed mine.Waiting for Wednesday 27 June 2012 when Bluebell Hill (and also Dover too) goes all digital TV is probably the better option.Happy Viewing !

David Mansell,Todmorden.Depending on which part of Todmorden you reside in (i resided there twice previously),plus are you also lower down or higher up.If you are higher up there is an outside chance you may be able to receive the main Winter Hill transmissions instead. It is something to consider if you live in a higher part of Todmorden.

Rowridge (Isle Of Wight, England) transmitter

Kev.I take it you reside near Poole itself as you did not leave a full postcode or nearby town/city to ascertain your situation as such.Your best bet for now is to leave it as it is until Wednesday 18 April 2012 once Crystal Palace goes all digital TV,and from then onwards you may consider that realigning your presently horizontally polarised diplexed aerial on Rowridge to vertical will be the better option.By the way is your class A (Yagi or X-Beam) aerial which is horizontally polarised at present (the diplexed signal aimed at Rowridge) a group A antenna (tipped red facing Rowridge). If it is black tipped (the one facing Rowridge that is) then it is a group W wideband aerial and the wrong antenna to use on Rowridge (all group A mast) hence the bad analogue reception on the Rowridge diplexed signal you stated as such.On no account should a group W wideband aerial (tipped black) be used on an all group A transmitter/relay such as Rowridge as an example within a bad/marginal signal area of that particular mast itself due to their poor/inferior performance. If you decide to realign the diplexed Rowridge received antenna from horizontal to vertical check that the tip is coloured red if it is then it is a group A aerial and retain this aerial as such,if it is coloured black (facing Rowridge that is) then it is a group W wideband aerial and the wrong aerial.
