Adrian.Adopting Virgin Cable TV does have its advantages, even less interference or none at all on digital cable TV.My advice if you and your wife want to go down that avenue,go for it !

Mark H,Exeter. If you decide to buy a new aerial and you decide to get the full package of programmes from the main Stockland Hill transmitter including the three COM multiplexes which is not broadcasted by your local relay, then as Stockland Hill is an all group A mast, you only need to purchase a new group A Yagi 18A,or X-Beam XB16A for slightly extra gain, but more important you will need to buy satellite grade co-ax copper-copper cable and brass co-ax plugs. As you stated earlier being on a higher ground area of Exeter,if you did decide to buy a new external group A aerial for the main Stockland Hill transmitter,if must be polarised horizontally mounted externally on a wall or on the roof,a chimney wall being ideal.

Yes,due to essential works on Emley Moor mast resulting in all 6 mux's temporarily switched off earlier this morning (between 0040 and 0255 hours roughly) and all its dependent relay masts as a result, around 0050 hours i conducted an experiment in which i deleted my programme set up,BBCA,D3+4,SDN mux's from Belmont (no BBCB fr 28 due to non-HD box) and ArqA,ArqB from Emley Moor.I did an automatic scan picking up all 5 of the Belmont multiplexes BBCA (fr 22),D3+4 (fr 25),SDN (fr 30),ArqA (fr 53),ArqB (fr 60) on my indoor set-top group W wideband aerial without any amplification. The result concerning the somewhat difficult to obtain ArqA & ArqB mux's from Belmont in my location under normal circumstances which i mentioned a wee while ago (Emley Moor transmitting normally that is) was the complete opposite. That is both of Belmont's ArqA & ArqB multiplexes were received as clear as day during the temporary TV downtime of Emley Moor and all its relays,ArqA from Belmont (fr 53) had a signal quality of 100% and signal strength of 69% while ArqB also from Belmont (fr 60) had a signal quality of 99%/100% and signal strength of 65%/67%.However when i amplified the signals this time ArqA (fr 53,Belmont) had a signal quality of 100% and signal strength of 71%,while ArqB (fr 60,Belmont) had a signal quality of 99%/100% and signal strength of 69%/71%.My conclusion to this experiment is under normal circumstances when Emley Moor is transmitting normally ArqA & ArqB from Belmont is somewhat difficult to obtain in my locality (in North Halifax) due to nearby relays broadcasting on frequencies 53 & 60,yet while Emley Moor and all its relays was down for those 2 hours earlier this morning (Fri 27 Jan 2012) both ArqA & ArqB from Belmont (fr's 53 & 60) were easily picked up via my set-top antenna and no signal disturbances (pixellations'etc) whatsoever on either ArqA & ArqB nor on BBCA,D3+4 & SDN multiplexes (all from Belmont).I will update in due course relating to its aftermath, when Emley Moor did finally power back later on !

Following on from my earlier lengthy text in relation to the couple of hours when Emley Moor was off for maintenence works earlier today (between 0040-0255 hours),for which i managed to retune to the Belmont transmitter to receive all 5 of their multiplexes, including the somewhat elusive ArqA & ArqB mux's in my location which i received as clear as day, once Emley Moor came back and all its dependent relays, both ArqA (fr 53) & ArqB (fr 60) multiplexes from Belmont pixellated, broke up and disappeared into "No signal" mode (without signal amplification) yet with signal amplification on the ArqB mux from Belmont was still there at 99% signal quality & 67% strength, but not Belmont's ArqA.So having worked out in my previous text what was causing the difficulties in my location,i deleted the all Belmont set up due to Emley Moor's inaction for those 2 hours, manually scanned all 5 Emley Moor's multiplexes (non-HD box),plus the BBCA (fr 22) & D3+4 (fr 25) multiplexes from Belmont (in the 800 programme channels list) and left them as it is.However i now know that if Emley Moor and all its relays were off air next time (for a short time),i will simply delete all programmes and automatically scan for the 5 multiplexes from Belmont which i can now use fully in an emergency until Emley Moor and its relays all re-return back on air.

Quentin. As it was your first post on here about telling me to speak so that everyone can understand, that is exactly what i do,i go into full detail as such if i have to,not going into brief details where others on here have done so and then complain that nobody gives fully qualified advice as such when things do go wrong. This site is about people's experiences relating to broadcasting whether it is Freeview,Freesat,Satellite TV,Cable TV,Radio, etc, and advice as such. Now do you understand, almost everybodyelse does !

Kelvin.IG8 area.Try inputting the affected multiplex manually by selecting frequency/channel 22,if there is a manual scanning function for your appliance.

Joan Bamborough.First of all you need to be specific about our location preferably a full postcode provided as without this information there is very little we can assist you with !

Quentin.Look up the above Transmitter engineering texts on this page that should answer the final seven words of your second text. And while i'm at it,i see it was you who was patronising towards me in the first place with your first text,so yes maybe i was patronising towards you in return and yes i have a life too,so thanks Quentin why did you not specify your problems with the interruptions you had in the first place then !
