Matt,KT18 6EH.Look up inversion effect, due to High pressure. However with low pressure imminent yer problems will soon abate.

Tim.Yes it is atmospherics/inversion effect that is causing yer difficulties, and yes once Crystal Palace goes fully digital on Wednesday 18 April 2012 yer problems will hopefully disappear, more so after Wednesday 27 June 2012 (Wed 13 June 2012 Heathfield mast) when Bluebell Hill,Dover masts go fully digital as well as Sudbury's restrictions on the COM mux's are lifted (going fully powered).

I apologise for the slightly extra postings on the above due to a sudden connection failure on the internet a few moments earlier.Apologies all round.

Pat B.Clacton-on-Sea.If has you stated you received Calendar News,if this is on frequency 25 then yer signals due to inversion effect will come from the Belmont mast,if on frequency 44 from Emley Moor.Look up inversion effect, this is the cause not a transmitter fault at Sudbury mast.

Pat B.I forgot to add if yer receiving Calendar and its from Emley Moor (D3+4 mux on fr 44) you may temporarily until inversion ends find that it clashes with Sudbury's BBCA mux also on fr 44,causing potential (temporary) loss of signal on that multiplex. If the Calendar news is on frequency 25 (D3+4 mux) it comes from Belmont transmitter.

To the many viewers receiving horizontally polarised transmissions from the Crystal Palace mast who suffer from inversion/atmospherics,i may have finally uncovered what causes the lower powered pre-digital signals on multiplex 2 (Mux 2) on frequency 22 especially to pixellate, break up and disappear into "No signal mode".It is possibly due to the higher powered post-digitally switched 150kw BBCA multiplex signal from the Belmont transmitter also on frequency 22 to swamp the lower powered Mux 2 signals (fr 22) on Crystal Palace mast. That is my possible conclusion.

Tim.I'm pleased that your reception has improved since Tuesday (17 Jan 2012),as low pressure swept in later that same day, which forced out the recent high pressure over your location causing all the problem with atmospherics/inversion.
