Sudbury (Suffolk, England) Full Freeview transmitter

David in Clacton. You may find if you switch to Crystal Palace you will only receive BBC1 London and ITV1 London Tonight local news instead, but if you're not handicapped by that then go for it.
However if you do switch to Crystal Palace also you will find that if your aerial is a group W wideband (coloured black at its tips) then you may need either to diplex this with a group A aerial (red coloured tips),or preferably replace the group W wideband with a group A aerial as Crystal Palace is an all group A transmitter and at your location over 40 miles from home to mast it is in effect a poor/marginal signal area and as such the group W wideband aerial often give a poor performance on group A frequencies, more so if the transmitter in this case Crystal Palace is an all group A transmitter itself.Hence you stated about signal strength from Crystal Palace being over 65%,a group A Yagi 18A would increase this to over 71% while a group A X-Beam 16A increases this to over 75% and up to 80%.

Sudbury (Suffolk, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Braintree

Mrs Gurney.Braintree,CM7 5HQ.You may have shot yerself in the foot with what you mentioned in your earlier text. You may have too much signal being located around 13 miles from your abode to Sudbury itself. If your aerial is polarised horizontally and facing Sudbury try fitting an attenuator to decrease the somewhat overpowering signal you may have.Or try a set-top aerial or even a piece of wire inserted into the aerial socket of yer appliance.
You may also need to reset your appliance, then with the aerial unplugged do an automatic scan,no channels will be picked up,then after this plug aerial back in then rescan only this time manual scan instead,it may just work.

Nick:Then again if you prefer to receive the full package from the main Dover main transmitter instead of Sudbury go for it.
On the minus side though you will have to put up with BBC1 South East and ITV1 Meridian South East news bulletins if you commit to Dover.

John Quattromini.Unfortunately nowadays indoor set-top aerials have become much inferior than what they used to be it's difficult for me to specify which is the best. But if you look up the ATV Aerials and Television of Sheffield website they do retail superior quality indoor set-top aerials and they do provide a mail order service too.

Thomas,Leeds.Difficult for me to say but i think your older Lowry freeview box may have had its day.My best advice is to buy a new set-top box.
As for your last sentence nothing has changed on Emley Moor ArqA multiplex on frequency 52 as such.

Kaz,Eastbourne. There are other alternatives to Freeview, there is Freesat or if you are affluent enough there is always Cable TV known as Virgin Media or Sky TV,either free to view satellite or subscription satellite.

Jed,West of Swindon. You can try inputting the PSB multiplexes of Wenvoe manually if your appliance allows it.BBCA (BBC1 & BBC2 Wales) is on frequency 41,D3+4 (ITV1 Wales and S4/C) is on frequency 44,and if your appliance is Freeview HD,the BBCB (HD) multiplex including S4C Clirlun on frequency 47 itself.
However bear in mind that while your normal Mendip multiplexes should remain as they are on the programme channels list (currently 1 to 728),the Wenvoe PSB multiplexes will be stored in the 800+ channels list with a few notable exceptions, these being BBC Radio Wales on programme channel list 719,BBC Radio Cymru on programme channel list 720,Channel 4 (again) on programme channel list 8 (Wenvoe equivalent),S4C Clirlun on programme channel list 53 if your appliance is Freeview HD (DVB-T2 compatible). As ITV1+1 (ITV1 Wales) are already on programme channel lists 33 from both Mendip and Wenvoe, the Wenvoe equivalent will not be stored if Mendip's equivalent is already stored on programme channel list 33,(the same will apply vice versa if Mendip were in the 800's,Mendip's will not be stored). If you have Freeview HD apparatus, from Mendip the ITV1 HD on programme channel list 51 will be from ITV Meridian Southampton, while simultaneously from Wenvoe the ITV1 HD somewhere in the 800's programme channels list will be from ITV Central West. Also bear in mind from Mendip only Channel 4 HD (South adverts) will be on programme channel list 52.As both Mendip and Wenvoe are now fully digital switched,if Mendip is in your normal list you will find that Wenvoe's COM multiplexes SDN,ArqA and ArqB will not duplicate in the 800's list, the roles will be exactly the same vice versa if Wenvoe was in the normal list, the COM mux's from Mendip will not be stored as such.
